Old Favourites, New Ideas!

Recently I completely re-organized my stamps, dies, stencils and embossing folders, both physically and electronically, and while I was doing that, I came across some old items that I've been holding onto but not using. I decided to challenge myself to use a few  of them, in a new way to decide whether it was time for them to go to a new home.

If you want to know more about my reorganization as well as why (and how!) I changed from Evernote to Air Table, join us at the FREE Paper Crafters Get Organized Summit next weekend!

Happy Birthday!

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (white, gold, yellow, aqua, red, green), Techniques (stamping), Elements (4 square grid with stripes (or crimping?), balloons, rings, birthday sentiment on white strip)

INCLUDE: white, gold, yellow, aqua, red, green, stamped sentiment on white, 4 square grid, ring,

MODIFY: stamped stripes instead of crimping, sentiment stamped on centre circle, gold ring as frame for sentiment, dew drops instead of balloons

EXCLUDE: balloons

SPIN: square card

I love the bright colours, and I love a square grid, so choosing this happy inspiration was easy! One of my favourite details was having the lines on the squares change from vertical to horizontal and back - such a simple thing, but a ton of visual impact!

For the first time, I used my Altenew stampwheel with a cling stamp by removing the sticky mat (similar to removing the mousepad from a MISTI). It worked great!

Spinning for FUN! Comparing Stencils 360 and Altenew Stampwheel

Just for fun (they're both out of stock right now, anyway! lol!), let's compare the Stencils 360 tool with the Altenew Stampwheel. How does each one work? How do they differ? Can you use them together? (bonus: I also tried out the Gina K Wreath Builder!)

LIMES with Brennan

Today, I'm excited to be introducing you to one of my newest crafty friends, Brennan. He's a talented newcomer on the card making scene and also to YouTube, so I'm excited to introduce you all to him, and show you how 3 of his cards helped me squeeze even more out of LIMES! (you can get a FREE LIMES worksheet here!)

Geo Flower Birthday

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST Colours (pink, yellow, orange, red, gold) Techniques (heat embossing, die cutting) Elements (flower wreath, solid flowers with white outlines, gem centres, circle sentiment panel with heat embossed sentiment)

INCLUDE: pink, yellow, orange, flower wreath,

MODIFY: stamped flowers instead of die cut, die cut sentiment instead of stamped,

EXCLUDE: white outlines, heat embossing

I love this floral wreath in graduated colours, and I even have those dies, but I decided to try something a little different.

I used my Altenew stampwheel to stamp the first layer of 4-petal flowers with one of the shapes from a Geo Flower Builder stamp set. Then I turned the stamp to create 8-petal flowers, and stamped them all again, and again, to get lots of contrast and a layered look, with the exact same colours.

3 Card Making Experiments

Today, I'm sharing the results of 3 cardmaking experiments:

  1. how to double your colours with one ink pad
  2. how to use a gel plate instead of a sticky mat
  3. how to use your stamp positioner for repeat stamping in a completely NEW way!
