Thinking of You

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Linda (71st Street).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on Linda's:
-colours (aqua and purple)
-circle/wreath/doily
-butterflies

I changed:
-emphasis on aqua to purple
-added black

I started by blending Flirty Fuschia and Aquatini inks through a stencil created with the i-crafter Doily die. I love the 'magic' that happens when you mix these two colours - isn't that blue gorgeous?

I trimmed the panel with an Essentials by Ellen Essential Circle die and used a strip from the Rainbow Slider die set for my i-crafter Scattered Thoughts sentiment.

I used the butterfly dies from the i-crafter Love Bugs set to create my butterfly, with a black base so it would be more visible on the busy background.

I cut a slightly larger black circle and used it as an offset mat to balance the black on the butterfly and add a modern feel.

Happy 50th Birthday

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Karen (stampngoKaren)

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on Karen's:
-pink, yellow and green and white colours
-flowers
-stripes

I changed:
-layout
-no stamping
-no ribbon

I made this card for my sister's birthday last week, using a complete mish-mash of products from a few of my favourite companies (and a similar die-cut grid as yesterday's cards):

-square die from Essentials by Ellen
-letters from i-crafter
-flower from Lawn Fawn
-stamps for envelope from Altenew
-jewel embellishments from Pretty Pink Posh

4 ideas with the new i-crafter Doily die

Good morning! Today the April i-crafter release is available and we are hopping to celebrate! (Hop details below).

There are lots of new goodies, and I focused on the beautiful new Doily die as well as the Carly alphabet.

Here, I used 3 of the doily dies to create a little sun-catcher. I cut them (the Spellbinders Tool-n-One is invaluable for getting all the little bits out easily!) and then blended ink through them. By doing it this way, I was able to blend the ink onto a white card panel, and make this card as well:

And a word about the Carly Alphabet - it is a huge set of dies that includes both upper and lower case letters as well as punctuation. It's in a fun whimsical font and it's easy to work with, especially if you put BeCreative tape on the back of the cardstock before you die cut your letters.

My next card uses a fun technique I learned from watching Amber's video on the Save the Crafty YouTuber hop. I embossed the doily onto a piece of white cardstock by running it through my die cutting machine with the rubber embossing mat. I used Copic markers to colour it and then laid another die cut (from Memory Box glitter cardstock) over top. This gives the look of inlaid die cuts.

My final card also uses an embossed doily, this time as the focal point. I added some jewels for colour and sparkle and popped it up over another doily cut out from black cardstock.

This card is also for this week's Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper challenge.

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Maura (onecraftystamper).

I chose this project as my inspiration:

I focused on Maura's:
-3 'flowers' with 'leaves'
-colours
-layout

I changed:
-tag to card
-sentiment to die cut letters

I used my 'dry brush' technique to create a green panel and a pink one. Then I trimmed the green one and splattered black ink onto part of it, and cut the solid leaves from Flower Bursts from the other part.

I cut solid flowers from the pink panel, and then I die cut the outline flowers and leaves from black cardstock.

The letters are the solid portions (they have outlines, too!) from the new Haley Outlines Alphabet set.

More i-crafter Thank You Cards

Today I'm sharing two more thank you cards using goodies from i-crafter's February release.

I used the same colour palette for both - gray and white with pops of rainbow!

For the first card, I cut lots of flowers from white cardstock - I love that the matching centre is attached, so you can easily cut them both at the same time!

I coloured a few of them with two shades of ink, making sure each one was different. Then I coloured the rest with gray ink. I also coloured the Thanks sentiment with gray ink.

I glued the flowers directly to the white panel, leaving room for my sentiment, and scattering the rainbow flowers around randomly. Then I used foam tape to pop up all the flower centres.

The second card was much quicker! lol! I cut the butterfly pieces from white cardstock and I coloured the body black and the top layer of the wings with Copic markers. I glued it directly above my sentiment, which had been stacked 3 times for good definition.

FS678 - Thanks

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, JJ Barrett (IndigosMom).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on JJ's:
-all-over floral theme
-thanks sentiment on a banner

I changed:
-die cuts instead of stamping
-no leaves
-no text in the background

I started by die-cutting 12 flowers - I love that this die has the matching flower centres attached!

I blended ink onto each one with a sponge dauber and then spritzed them all with Avery Elle Clear Shimmer Spray.

I popped them up on a white panel and then used just the smaller flower centres, which I had coloured with a black marker.

Then, I took the two-piece banner and taped them together. I hid the seam underneath the N of the two-piece thanks die, and then glued the 2 pieces close enough together that you can't really tell that it's not one piece.

3 Thank You Card Ideas with *new* i-crafter Cherry Blossom Bursts dies

Today is the i-crafter February release and we're having a blog hop to celebrate (hop details below).

I created 3 thank you cards with the new Cherry Blossom Burst dies (and the Thanks die from the Pop Up Wiper Insert die set).

The first card has soft, traditional cherry blossom colours, achieved with ink blending, watercolouring and a little Copic colouring. I used the large 8-flower die for this one (no need for fussing around with arrangement! LOL!) (Leaf die from the new Floral Garden set)

The next two cards show that you can use the smaller 3-flower and single flower dies with different colours to get a more graphic feel.

Flashback Friday - i-crafter Heart Maze

It's Flashback Friday and I have a new card, inspired by a card I made in 2015:

I focused on:
-rainbow colours
-white die cut

I changed:
-circle to heart
-occasion
-more colour on the panel
-tecnique

To create this card, I used the new i-crafter Heart Maze die set and the Amaze Me stamp set for the sentiment.

I started by blending a rainbow of inks on a panel of white cardstock. I went in a circlular motion.

I cut the large solid heart from the panel, and then I trimmed the panel with a rectangle die that was smaller than the heart. This allows the popped-up heart to overhang the panel.

I spritzed the heart with Avery Elle Clear Shimmer Spray before stacking two white maze die cuts on top, to create the feeling of the maze walls.

I used a heart jewel from my stash in the centre.

FS676 - Happy Birthday

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Maria Patrick (Maria P).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on:
-mostly white card with border
-bold sentiment with shaped element

I changed:
-colours
-occasion
-added a shaker

I used some new products from a new company called i-crafter (see yesterday's post and video for more info!).

I started with a white panel and I cut the star window and the happy window from Zip Gift Tags in the centre. Then I cut the star window from silver mirror cardstock and trimmed the star out before gluing it on top of the white star on my panel. I stamped 'birthday' in black ink.

I created my little shaker behind the star window and filled it with Graphite jewels from Pretty Pink Posh. I added a narrow black mat and some more jewels on top.
