Christmas Snowflake

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (teal, red, white), Techniques (stamping, die cutting), Elements (envelope with flap, red scalloped circle, layered snowflakes, sentiment on label die cut, pearl embellishment))

INCLUDE: teal, red, white, layered snowflake

MODIFY: stenciled, embossed background, no scallops on red circle, created flap-look with extra inkblending on my background

EXCLUDE: sentiment

SPIN: square card, gem, spritz and splattered

This colour combination is one of my favourites for Christmas, and I also have a weakness for snowflake dies.

I stenciled a square of cardstock, then blended over the whole thing for a tone on tone look. Then I masked off a triangle and added another layer of ink to create my faux flap.

I blended red ink onto a white cardstock circle, and then put the two layers through my die cutting machine with a 3D embossing folder to add some texture. I spritzed the panels with shimmer spray and splattered with some silver watercolour.

I added dimension to my layered snowflake by die cutting small circles and layering them up between the two snowflakes.

Flower Thanks

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (rainbow, white, pink, purple), Techniques (stamping), Elements (patterned paper, big floral, horizontal 'ribbon', rectangle sentiment with mats and brads, horizontal layout)

INCLUDE: pink, puple, yellow, white, big floral, horizontal ‘ribbon’

MODIFY: stenciled dotted background and stencilled flower, die cut sentiment

EXCLUDE: stamping, brads

SPIN: square card

Last weekend, I met Effie (owner of The Ton Stamps) in Virginia - so fun! I bought this pretty Calming Cosmos 1 layering stencil and played with it this week. I also pulled out an unused stencil from Simon Hurley to create my polka-dot background. I finished with a gold die cut sentiment.

Love Drama

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (black & white), Techniques (die cutting, stamping) Elements negative heart with diagonal strips of patterned paper, embossed dots, black ribbon and bow, stamped sentiment

INCLUDE: black, white, die cutting, stamping,

MODIFY: die cut 'scribble heart' - scribbles are like diagonal strips, gold splatter instead of embossed dots, die cut sentiment on the heart

EXCLUDE: ribbon, bow

SPIN: square card

I don't often make cards in just black and white, but this inspiration really caught my eye. I pulled out an unused heart die and embraced the graphic look of it. I stacked up 3 instead of having a negative die cut, and I splattered gold watercolour on the top layer. I added a simple love die cut sentiment, along with a tiny stamped 'you'.

Happy Birthday Daisies

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (coral, white, blue, olive), Techniques (die cutting, stamping, embossing), Elements (flowers, scalloped circle mat, lots of layers, embossed background, ribbon, stamped sentiment on rectangle strip

INCLUDE: flowers, coral, white, stamping, die cutting

MODIFY: masked flowers, freshened the blue and olive to aqua and lime, created 'texture' on my background by doubling up the flower mask with a stencil, flowers are white, colours in the background, sentiment is stamped on rectangle with negative frame

EXCLUDE: scalloped circles, embossing, layers, ribbon

I reversed my inspiration by having white flowers on a coloured background. I reduced layers a lot by masking my flowers and then stenciling the 'texture' in my background. I simplified my sentiment by cutting a framed rectangle out of my panel, and then leaving the frame out when I popped everything up.

Amazing Daisies

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (green, pink, orange, purple, blue, white), Techniques (stamping, fussy cutting), Elements (lots of white space, coloured sentiments, coloured stamping)

INCLUDE: green, pink, purple, white, stamping, white space

MODIFY: orientation of floral, stamped in black and coloured, left some uncoloured to keep a light feeling, black reverse sentiment (fussy cutting to create mask!), popped up whole circle panel

EXCLUDE:

SPIN: circle panel on square card

I loved the airiness of the inspiration cards. And I just got a super-pretty floral stamp set. This is a type of card I really haven't made in quite a while - stamped and coloured with copics. I wanted to try combining two of the stamps in the border set so I stamped the daisy border on my panel, then stamped it again on some 2 inch post-it tape, to create a mask.

I then stamped a leaf-only stamp from the same set twice, once extending above, and once below the daisies.

I coloured just the image from the first stamp, leaving the leaves from the second stamp white (and I realized my Copics need a spa day to be cleaned up and refilled!)

I trimmed the panel down with a circle die, to get rid of a smudge, and then added a reverse sentiment and popped up the panel before adding crystal glaze to the flower centres.

Illusion Love You

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (pink, white, gold), Techniques (die cutting), Elements (mosaic background, darker frame, 3 glitter hearts, valentine's theme, pink cardbase)

INCLUDE: pink, white, gold, die cut glitter hearts

MODIFY: valentine to 'love you', used masking and stencilling for background, one big white heart, 5 small gold hearts, added black and yellow/orange

EXCLUDE:

SPIN:

Darlene's inspiration card is full of energy and love. I masked a large heart on my panel and then I blended pinks and one orangey-yellow ink through my illusion Rippled Squares stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I trimmed it down to follow the ripples and stamped a bold black sentiment before putting it on a black rectangle mat. I added 5 little gold glitter heart die cuts as my embellishments.

Dahlia Thinking of You

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (orange, pink blue, beige), Techniques (copic colouring), Elements (big 'flower burst' in background, ballerina)

INCLUDE: orange, pink, blue, big flower burst

MODIFY: stenciled instead of coloured, added die cut sentiment and sparkle

EXCLUDE: Ballerina

I loved the drama on the inspiration card - the energy from the background really caught my eye. I stencilled some pink and yellow/orange ink through a dahlia stencil, blended blue ink around the edges and then added some gold watercolor splatter.

Instead of a ballerina, I die cut a sentiment from white cardstock and added some gems for sparkle

INCLUDE: wheat, brosn, mustard

MODIFY: brown sentiment strip instead of ribbon, 'stained glass' instead of solid stamp

EXCLUDE: ribbon, patterned paper

I changed up the inspiration and used an outline stamp (with a Frank Lloyd Wright feel) and coloured it to make it look like stained glass.

Happy Birthday Poppy

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (red, white, black), Techniques (stamping, die cutting), Elements (large circle element over the edge of the card, patterned paper argyle background, stamped sentiment strip)

INCLUDE: red, white, black, stamping, die cutting,
MODIFY: brought circle element onto the card, stamped tone on tone background, not patterned paper, sentiment placement changed, added some green and yellow
EXCLUDE: maze
SPIN:

I chose this inspiration because it has one of my favourite elements - that maze hanging off the top - you can do that with my square cards, and they still still fit in an A2 envelope.

I stamped, customized and coloured my stamp, intending to have it hang over the top, but it just didn't feel right, especially with the same stamped pattern on the red background, so I let the card tell me how it wanted to be made! lol!

Sunflower Thanks

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (yellow, red/orange, green), Techniques (ink blending, colouring), Elements (tall flower with bees on blended background. stamped cut out sentiment)

INCLUDE: yellow, red, orange, green, tall flower,

MODIFY: stenciled instead of stamp, layout has blending on edges, sentiment stamped directly onto panel

EXCLUDE: bees

SPIN:

I don't want to get ahead of myself, spring is just arriving, and this inspiration (and my case) both have a distinctly fall feeling! lol! I used a stencil for my sunflower and then combined a leaf shape stencil with the flower stencil to create leaves that had a similar look.  I kept my blending on the edges of the card to allow for more white space.

Daisy Happy Birthday

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (white, black, red, green), Techniques (die cutting, stamping) Elements (lattice die cut, 3D rose, stamped sentiment)

INCLUDE: white, black, die cutting, die cut background

MODIFY: pink instead of red, addded yellow, flat die cut flower instead of 3d, die cut sentiment

EXCLUDE: green,

This pretty inspiration card has a classic, elegant feeling that I changed to more 'cartoon' feeling. I used a coverplate die to create my background, and a matching flower to create the inlaid and outlined flower. I added a big center to the daisy, and topped it with crystal glaze and chunky glitter.

Winter Cardinal

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (red, white, brown), Techniques (die cutting, stamping), Elements (bare tree with cardinal, ribbon, sentiment strip, deckled edges, stamped red card base, stencil paste 'snow'.

INCLUDE: red, white, brown, die cutting, stamping, red frame

MODIFY: more trees, bigger bird, splattered snow,

EXCLUDE: ribbon, sentiment strip, deckled edges

I love this colour combination at Christmas - it's kind of rustic and warm but still festive. I started by blending brown ink through the Abstract Forest stencil. Then I used a pinstripe stamp to stamp with a darker brown ink to add some texture to my trees. I spritzed the panel with iridescent shimmer spray and splattered some metallic watercolour for the look of snow.

I die cut my cardinal from white cardstock and blended red inks on. I used a black copic to create his mask, and a yellow copic for his beak. I added a shiny, beady eye with a dot of Crystal Glaze.

Shimmery Thinking of You

Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!

I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!

LIST: Colours (blue, brown, copper, cream) Techniques (die cutting, stamping) Elements (flourish, daisy, die cut flower with circle frame, ribbon)

INCLUDE: blue, copper, die cutting, circle frame

MODIFY: water stamped background, stencilled daisy, one daisy, added sentiment

EXCLUDE: ribbon,

SPIN:

I was really attracted to the tone-on-tone look of this card, even though it has more than one colour. I started by blending a panel with blue and orangey-brown, and then masked a circle and water-stamped with a background stamp.

I stenciled my daisy with Lisa Horton Interference ink (shimmery ink that changes colour depending on what's underneath it), and added a heat embossed sentiment.
