A Very Special Card

 

You know I make lots of cards every year, mostly to show you techniques or products. But sometimes, I need to make a very special card for a particular occasion - here's a beginning to end look at how I made this card for a bridal shower:

Fun Things to do with a Gemini Foilpress

I'm on the Ellen Hutson blog and YouTube channel today with a video showing some fun ways to use your Gemini Foil Press that you may not have thought of.

Pretty Pink Posh January Release - With Love

Today the January release from Pretty Pink Posh is available! It's full of fun new stamps, dies and embellishments and I've got lots of projects to show you in the next little while.

Today, I'm starting with this sweet and simple shaker card using the new With Love Shaker die.

I cut the die from white cardstock, and then coloured the sentiment and hearts and flowers with Copic markers, leaving the border white.

I inlaid the heart into an Oyster panel that had been edged with one of the Stitched Border 1 dies. See how the stitching and scallops match up so well? I love how the newest products work so well with previously-released products!

I created my shaker on a white card base and filled it with Sparkling Clear sequins to maximize the legibility of the sentiment.

Adoring You Stamp of Approval Collection Blog Hop

I'm not officially on the blog hop today (I'm on the video hop tomorrow and the Instagram hop on Wednesday morning), but I made a card and I have the list of blogs below.

This card uses the Love Note Background stamp, and a sentiment from Happy Together. I stamped it once in Midnight and once in Rockin' Red and fussy cut the red 'love' and glued it to the black one. Simple, classic.

Muse 278 - Celebrate

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club where Anita gave us this pretty inspiration:

I focused on Anita's:
-floral theme
-colour combination

I heat embossed my Roses All Over background with Soft Mango embossing powder before adding some colour with Catherine Pooler inks. I cut my sentiment 3 times, heat embossed the top layer with Oyster Glintz powder and stacked them up.

Spellbinders - Toast & Jam

I had some fun this week playing with a new (to me) stamp and die set from Spellbinders called Toast with Jam'n Bread. I kept them both pretty clean and simple and coloured with Copics and Stickles.

For my first card, I curved the sentiment on my MISTI and stamped it. I stamped and die cut the jam, butter and toaster (it has a slot for the toast!) and a die-cut 4 slices of bread. I popped them up all over the card to create some movement.

Next, I played on the 'JAM' in the sentiment by creating a traffic jam of jam! I kept the colour scheme simple since the pattern was so busy.

WOW! Catherine Pooler Blog Hop

Good morning! I'm excited to be part of a Blog Hop with some of the designers from the Catherine Pooler Creative Team and also some designers from WOW! Embossing Powders. We're hopping to show you how well these two product lines work together.

As you can see, I created two cards with stripes. What you maybe can't see is that they both used the exact same 6 WOW! Embossing Powders!

I thought it would be fun to show how different the powders look when you use a different ink as a base. I used the same stripe stamp from Eat, Sleep, Create for both cards. I used the same embossing powders in the same order. But for the Celebrate Everything card, I used Versamark ink. For the Star card, I used black Versafine ink. 

Working top to centre (and then I reversed the order and worked back out to the bottom), I used 

• Wanderlust (exclusive to Catherine Pooler Designs)
• Vintage Romance
• Silver Pearl
• Metalline First Frost
• Mermaid Tails
• Sand Dunes

The Versamark card resulted in colours that were soft, pretty and romantic, so I went with that feeling as I finished the card.

I used the scalloped rectangle from Tags, Etc. to trim the panel, and then I used the stitched rectangle from Postage Stamp dies to create an inner panel, which I popped up. I cut some flowers  from the dies that match Love Grows, and coated them in Versamark before embossing them with Vintage Romance and Mermaid Tails. My sentiment comes from Good Things and was embossed in a seventh variety of embossing powder - Metallic Gold Rich Pale Superfine.

The black ink gave more industrial, metallic results so I kept my card very simple and masculine. Again, I used the stitched rectangle from Postage Stamp dies, but I turned it on my panel a bit so that the stripes would be on an angle.

I simply inlaid the new Star Word die into the panel and called it done.

Catherine Pooler Designs March Release - All That Jazz!

It's Day 3 of the All That Jazz blog hops and the products are now available in the shop!

This card uses the new Grateful Heart stamps and dies, the new Wonderful die and one of the amazing patterns in the new Black Tie Gala Patterned paper pack.

I started by stamping and embossing the swags of flowers and then watercolouring them using CP inks (Video below). I cut them out with the matching dies and popped them up on a full panel of the striped patterned paper. 

I wanted my 'wonderful' to match the embossing on the flowers, so I cut it out in white, then pounced Versmark all over the top before using the same embossing powder. I stacked 4 die cuts together to raise it to the same height as the flowers.

Next up, I've got a fun card that uses the new Wonderful die together with the Counting Blessings Thankful die. I love how they work so well together! I blended Lime Rickey and All That Jazz onto some white cardstock, and cut them out, making sure that the fade-out would be about half-way up the word.

I used Tags, Etc. to create my scalloped square out of the new Sand Dunes cardstock.  Here's a video I made last fall to show how to convert a scalloped rectangle into a scalloped square.

Muse 256 - Golden Anniversary

Here's my card for this week's Muse challenge, where Anita gave us this pretty, romantic inspiration:

I focused on Anita's:

-colour

-heart

-anniversary theme

-metallic accents

Later this year we will be celebrating my parents' 50th (Golden) wedding anniversary, and this is my mom's favourite colour, so I decided to get a head start on the card.

I decided to make a big card (for me, anyway!), so I started with a 5x7 panel of watercolour cardstock.

I used the cling-wrap with watercolours technique for my background, with some blue-y green Catherine Pooler re-inkers as my watercolours. Using the reinkers gives a more intense colour but you could easily smoosh your inkpads onto your palette and achieve a similar look, as I've done before.

When the panel was dry, I flicked Delicata Gold ink over it for some golden splatters.

Next, I cut the Prismatic Heart die from Gold Mirror cardstock and again, out of my panel. I adhered acetate to the back of the panel and created a shaker with Pretty Pink Posh Gold confetti and Studio Katia iridescent gems. Here's a close up.

I used a spray adhesive on the delicate golden die cut - so much easier than trying a liquid glue, which may have spread onto the acetate.
