CASology308, CTS281, AAACards - Colour My World

I'm playing with 3 challenges today, CASology, CAS(E) This Sketch and AAA Cards with this simple (like 5 minutes!) card.

I started by creating a rainbow with pastel shades of Copic markers. I cut some clouds and shaded them and then stamped the sentiment. Easy peasy. Getting a decent photo of this mostly-white card took longer than making it!

Good morning! I'm playing along with two challenges with this card that I made with an extra background I made for this card, ages ago. It worked so well for a frosty background, but I think it works for a pretty spring background, too!

I was inspired by the current The Card Concept Challenge:

And also the current CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge:

I started with my pretty, frosty background and stamped and embossed Mondo Hydrangea into some pink areas. Then, I watercoloured the flowers in a brighter pink for more contrast.

I die cut and stacked my sentiment so that it would be legible on the background. And for my card base, I used the new Oyster Gray cardstock from Ellen Hutson. It is a lovely soft colour, very smooth and perfect weight for a card base.

I have a sweet new baby card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, using some of the latest Essentials by Ellen products.

I started by stamping the papa-bear and then masking him, masking a horizon and blending a sky with Distress Ink. I stamped and die-cut the mama and baby bears, and coloured all 3 with copics.

CTS229 - Happy Birthday

Today is Kevin Bray's birthday and this card is on its way to him. I used the inspiration from this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.

Lately, Kevin has been making cardmaking videos with his girlfriend Cheryl. They are fun to watch and give a great opportunity to get to know Kevin better. He is a very talented cardmaker and also a nice guy who has nice friends.

I went ultra clean and simple for this masculine take on the sketch. The stripes on one side of the cardbase are a special touch that Kevin used on one of my favourites of his cards.

FS542, CTS227 - You Make Me Smile

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper,  AJ Bodine, aka rutabagapie . I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on:
-colour scheme
-horizontal stripes (one in a different colour)
-sunshine focal image

I changed:
-added black
-proportions of stripes and yellow element
-layout

I started by masking and blending a square white panel with distress ink stripes. I then spritzed it for some interest (not too much, because this isn't watercolour paper). Then I cut out the smile and the sun from the panel and inlaid with grey (for the smile) and a separately-blended-and-cut sun. One of the fun things about my little square cards (4.25x4.25) is that you can have things hanging off the edges and they'll still fit into an A2 envelope! I stamped the sentiment and then popped up the panel on foam tape.

CTS222 - Happy Birthday

Here's a happy (happy, happy!) card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.

These fun bold colours are all Catherine Pooler inks. I bought a few of them a couple of weeks ago and have been having fun playing with them! I used them in these faux-watercolour cards  here, and have also "really" watercoloured with them (for a future project). The colours are vibrant and the inks give fantastic stamping coverage. Here, I inked up the happy stamp from Spot On, a set that is included The Foundations Box with 2 different shades of each colour, to create some dimension. Then I cut 2 of them out with 2 different-sized circle dies for some variation and popped them up for some more dimension.
