CASology 333 - Bounce

I'm doing something I haven't done in a while - I'm playing along with the current CASology challenge, Bounce!

(Imagine how these meds are all going to bounce when they hit the floor!)

Plus, I'm having some fun colouring some of the small images from the EBE Leading Ladies: Medical Lady, as well as creating dimension with shadows. AND using different tones of gray to create a bit of a textured background. All while remaining Clean and Simple! LOL!

First - colouring the pills. I used highlights and shadows to create 'dimension' and 'shine' on each pill. This creates dimension.

Second - I used two Toner Gray markers to create shadows on the left and bottom edges of each pill. This creates shadows and makes the pills look like they are sitting on the card.

Third - I used three Toner Gray markers to create some ombre dots that are darker in the top and bottom corners and then fade out to nothing in the centre, closer to the pills. This subtle treatment adds a bit of interest, without drawing attention away from the focal images.

CASology308, CTS281, AAACards - Colour My World

I'm playing with 3 challenges today, CASology, CAS(E) This Sketch and AAA Cards with this simple (like 5 minutes!) card.

I started by creating a rainbow with pastel shades of Copic markers. I cut some clouds and shaded them and then stamped the sentiment. Easy peasy. Getting a decent photo of this mostly-white card took longer than making it!

CASology 286 - Thoughts and Prayers

I'm playing along with CASology's Butterfly challenge with this very clean and simple sympathy card and some of Catherine Pooler's newest products (available Tuesday!)

This new butterfly set has two layered butterflies (perfect for using Catherine's newest inks!) and several serene and thoughtful sentiments.

I did not use the solid layer of the butterfly, just the top two layers, for a different look. I stamped the middle layer with new ink Polished and the top layer with (previously released) Peppermint Scrub. The body and sentiment were stamped with Black Jack.

I then created a negative mask and very lightly sponged some Skylight to create a bit of a frame.

CASology 268 - Fortune

Here's my card for this week's CASology Cue Card, Fortune:

I was lucky enough to spend last Saturday with Kathy Racoosin on her Coloring Challenge Road Trip. She is so lovely and absolutely full of tips and knowledge. I tried to apply some of her tips to my Copic colouring here

  • pay attention to the 'nooks and crannies'
  • don't be afraid to use darker colours
  • use blending solution for texture
  • know when to walk away
Learning is a life-long thing and looking at this, I can see areas that I'm happy with and areas that need more work.  I am still experimenting with X-press-it - I'm finding it very easy to blend on.

I masked a number of different images from MFT's Party Like A Pirate to create this little scene.

Muse 224, CASology 257 - Merry Christmas

This is my card for this week's Muse challenge. Tracey gave us a rainbow of colour drops as inspiration:

I focused on Tracey's:
-rainbow colours and order
-number of elements
-layout
-use of popped up die cuts

I love how the colour drops fit together like that when you turn them upside down. I felt like a snowman would have a similar shape to the colour drops but I wasn't sure about having some of them upside down. In the end, I think they create a whimsical and fun border.

I'm also going to link this up at CASology (wish) - the sentiment is a wish, isn't it? lol!
