Craft Roulette #63

This is the result of last nights Craft Roulette challenge, where I was one of the Guest Crafters.

Here are the 4 parameters we came up with:

Project: 6 inch sketch (Mary had 2 we could choose from)

Colours: cool

Element: car or truck

Random: envelope

I often find larger cards to be a challenge - many stamps and dies are scaled for smaller spaces. But the sketch had 4 windows, so that helped.

I cut 4 squares from some of my cool-coloured gel plate backgrounds and added some tone on tone stamping with Ellen Hutson's Wonky Background set.

I cut and coloured the card and people from Penguin Palace's Sweet Ride set, and cut out my sentiment using some Ellen Hutson word dies.

Beautiful Butterfly Birthday

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Aimeslee, (123scrap).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

LIST: colours (aqua, blue, pink, white), watercolour background, pink die cut butterfly/flowers, die cut sentiment

INCLUDE: blue, pink, white,

MODIFY: add black, stamped sentiment, circle inkblended daisy background

EXCLUDE: aqua,

SPIN: square card

I started by creating the inkblended background. I die cut 4 each of the 3 sizes of Open Daisies from A Jillian Vance Design, from post-it notes, to create masks. I placed them on a panel of white cardstock and blended Tranquil, Serenade and Drive-In ink over top.

I removed the masks, cut a circle from the panel and spritzed it with shimmer spray.

I cut the AJVD Beautiful Butterfly once from white cardstock and blended Pucker Up and Flirty Fuchsia on it before spritzing it with shimmer spray too.

I also cut the butterfly from black and trimmed the wings off before gluing the body on top of the pink/purple butterfly.

Altenew Classic Imagery Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Good morning! I'm excited to be part of a blog hop for the latest Altenew release (details below).

My cards were made with the new Daisy Bed 3D embossing folder and simple inkblending. I started with an A2 panel of cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the embossing folder. Then I inkblended peach, pink and yellow inks over it.

I trimmed the panel down to make my first card (top) and simply added a popped up sentiment from Bouquet of Love.

But I couldn't bear to throw the rest of the panel away, so I came up with an idea for using that strip with some letters from the Bold Alphabet die set.

Giveaway Prizes

$300 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 05/24/2021 for a chance to win.

Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 05/26/2021.

Tulip Birthday

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Robyn!

I chose this card as my inspiration:

LIST: Colours - greens & pink, floral theme, one large image split up, small stamped sentiment

INCLUDE: green and pink, flowerd, die cuts,

MODIFY: added yellow, stamped on base with popped out die cuts

EXCLUDE:

SPIN: 'faux' gel-press background

I started by creating a background by simply using my CP Mini inkpads as 'stamps'. I criss-crossed and layered up to give lots of interest and choppy texture. (Pro tip: make sure your inkpads are juicy!)

I spritzed the background with shimmer spray and then set it aside to dry.

I stamped the new Ellen Hutson Mondo Tulip and That Thing You Did birthday sentiment with black ink. Then I chose 3 circle dies that fit around the tulips and cut them from the panel. I popped up the circles with foam tape.

Happy Mother's Day

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Pat (casep).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

LIST: Colours (red, blue, green), tulips, circle, stained glass, corner element, bottom border, 'welcome' stamped sentiment

INCLUDE: tulips, window, stained glass feel, bottom border

MODIFY: inlaid tulips and border rather than stamped

EXCLUDE: sentiment, corner element

SPIN: square card, inlaid die cuts

I created this card with the new Pretty Pink Posh Tulips coverplate, but I modified it by trimming off the bottom half and then fitting the bottom portion of the frame onto it. If you look closely, you can see the seams on the bottom corners, but I think most people wouldn't notice (or you could cover with embellishements)!

For my tone on tone background, I cut a diamond border out from my inkblended panel, spritzed shimmer spray on it and then laid it back in.

Altenew Exotic Garden Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Good morning! I'm excited to be part of the Altenew Exotic Garden blog hop today (details below).

My cards both use the Mega Succulent 3D embossing folder, with a sentiment from the Tropical Jungle stamp set.

I used watercolour cardstock for the first one, and then blended various colours of inks over top. The detail in this folder is stunning, and I found it easy to create highlights and shadows with my small blending tools.

For the second one, I put gray ink onto the embossing folder itself before running it through my die cutting machine. I love the stone-like look of this, emphasizing every tiny detail of this gorgeous succulent.
