AAA136 - True Friend

Today I'm playing along with the current AAA Cards challenge.

My one image is this beautiful Bold Butterfly from the recent Pretty Pink Posh release. I cut it out from my white card base and then inlaid it back into the negative space. I bent the wings and antennae up a little for some dimension.

To provide a place to glue the butterfly to, I lined the inside of my card with a piece of acetate. The inside back of the card has a piece of rainbow patterned paper on it, so that it peeks through the front of the card, and 'colours' my image.

I added some Pretty Pink Posh gems for sparkle and interest, and stamped a sentiment from the Peacocks.

Love rainbows and butterflies?

In case you missed it, I was on the Pretty Pink Posh blog and YouTube channel yesterday with this card.

CASology308, CTS281, AAACards - Colour My World

I'm playing with 3 challenges today, CASology, CAS(E) This Sketch and AAA Cards with this simple (like 5 minutes!) card.

I started by creating a rainbow with pastel shades of Copic markers. I cut some clouds and shaded them and then stamped the sentiment. Easy peasy. Getting a decent photo of this mostly-white card took longer than making it!

AAACards104, Addicted to CAS, ATSAM271

Funny (but true!) story - I make Christmas cards all year. For challenges, for fun, for no reason at all. When December comes, I don't generally worry about getting my cards done (too many other things to do and worry about!) because I have a stash.

Except this week, a teacher-friend of mine asked me to bring my stash to her, so she could choose a few for her own boys' teachers. And then she passed my stash around and in the end I sold so many cards, that now I AM worried about having enough cards to send to my friends and family!

Last night I sat down and quickly whipped up a few using some new Catherine Pooler products - this was one of my favourites. These inks are amazing - they stamp crisply, but they also blend so well. I love how when you blend these inks, you can deepen the colours around the edges and by leaving the centres of the ornaments lighter, they look dimensional and like they're glowing. To make this easier, I use sponge daubers rather than blending tools - they're smaller and easier to control when blending small areas like these ornaments.

I'm linking up to 3 challenges (click on the photos to check them out):

AJVD - Thanks A Bunch (AAA Cards)

I'm on the A Jillian Vance Design blog today with a step-by-step guide for this card. I used one edge of a bookmark die to make the pretty, tiny stitched and scalloped border on my focal panel.

I am also linking up to the CAS Rainbow challenge at AAA Cards.

AAA Cards/Pin-Sights Thanks

Today, I'm playing along with the Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge.

I focused on the aqua hanging kitchen gadgets and the metallic script. The whole card is embossed in silver. The leaves are coloured with Copics and then Stardust Stickles. I love how they look like opals!

I'm also linking up to AAA Cards' Winter Chill challenge.

Muse #165, AAA#64 - Thank You

Here's my card for this week's Muse Challenge, where Anita has given us an awesome, shimmery inspiration:

I LOVE that purply colour but didn't have any cardstock in that colour. I also don't have mica powder, so I used a shimmery pink panel and inlaid my dies into them, to get a similar but different effect.

I focused on Anita's
-colour scheme
-floral theme
-layout

I used:
-Memory Box Jumbled Thank You
-Papertrey Beautiful Blooms II Part 3 daisy die
-Doodlebug Matte enamel dot.

I am also linking up at AAA Cards, where the challenge is inlaid dies.

AAACards39 - Happy Birthday!

Happy Victoria Day! Here in Canada, we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday every May - it's the unofficial start of summer and we've been having fabulous weather, sunny and warm! Perfect for bbq's, long walks and fireworks!

I'm sharing a card I made for AAACards 39th challenge, to celebrate their first birthday!

I pulled out one of my recent purchases, MFT's The Whole Herd to create this. I used the matching dies so that I could fit everyone including the hen and her chick onto the card!
I used a red panel to get a barn-y feeling, with all the critters peeking out through the door. They're so cute! I coloured them with Copics.

Thanks to Kimberly for reminding me to link up to Retrosketches as well.

CTS77, AAA3 - Happy Birthday!

Another take on AAA Card's Game 3 - where this card by Linda Beeson is our inspiration:

and also for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

This colour scheme is one of my favourites - it's warm and fun and very vibrant. I used re inkers and a water brush to put drops onto a piece of acetate. I then spritzed the acetate with water and laid it on my watercolour paper panel. I finished the card with a MFT die and one black enamel dot.

AAA Cards Game 3 - Happy Birthday!

I'm trying to get better at playing in all the amazing challenges out there - here's another new one called AAA Cards. They're on Game 3 already, so I'm a little slow in finding them, but I'm glad I did. This week our inspiration is this fun birthday card from Linda Beesom

I focused on the colours, but went a little more clean and graphic. A great way to CASify something is to make it big. (another way is to make it small, but that's a tip for another day! lol!) I used an unknown little Happy that I love because it fits right along the B of this Uniko Birthday along with the biggest dot from Simon Says Stamp's Lots of Dots.

ETA - thanks for the reminder, Donna - I'm on the DT at CAS-ual Fridays, where the challenge is Three -thirds - use 3 things on one-third of the card. I used 3 colours (plus black), 3 dots, 3 stamps (dot, happy & birthday). I'll link up there, too - don't forget that the deadline is fast approaching - May 23!
