Muse170, ABNH You are Awesome

My card for this week's Muse Challenge is a mix of old and new. The old is the butterfly stamp and the new is the InColor inks from Stampin' Up, which I used as my watercolours.

Anita gave us this inspiration:

FS475/ABNH - You Are Amazing

Congratulations to this week's Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper:  ju012835 (Julie). I chose this rainbow card from her amazing gallery as my inspiration:

I love using rainbow colours (linking up to ABNH's rainbow challenge) and I had some fun with a simple row of dots, lots of inks and some sentiments. In fact, I had twice the fun (see below for my second card).

I focused on Julie's:
-rows of rainbow colours
-black sentiment on the right
-'natural' image (star vs cloud)

I changed:
-did not separate my rows of colour
-added layers
-size and shape of card

I used (for both cards):
-Hero Arts Thanks (DC152)
-MFT Whimsical Greetings

For this one, I bent the row of dots (one of the benefits of using clear stamps!) and stamped a pattern to create this rainbow.

Yesterday was stamp day at my house! Look at all the talent in the room:

that's me (taking the selfie from a chair in my kitchen), Stephanie, Tracey, Tasha, Kate, Meredyth, Emily and Lindsey.

And on the deck (it was a great day!)

We had a Minc demo from Stephanie (and now we all need to foil all the things!) and played with all the new goodies we had all ordered since our last stamp day. And ate. And laughed. Mostly laughed! We've done this a few times now, so we're getting pretty good at being productive as well - I have a couple of fun cards coming up this week that I started during the afternoon. What a fantastic start to March break!

CASE Study 208/ABNH51 - Thanks so much!

Here's a card I managed to make for two challenges, CASE Study, where our inspiration is this fun card from Debby

 and A Blog Named Hero, where the challenge is to use letter stamps (I used Hero Arts Typewriter Alphabet (CL492)).



I used PTI Super Stripes stamped in Soft Stone ink to represent the boards, a red PTI thanks die cut for the apples, and the HA Typewriter alpha for the rest of the sentiment.  Three tiny kraft hearts (Impression Obsession) for the colour and texture of the burlap.

A Blog Named Hero: Shades of Grey

Today is my solo post at A Blog Named Hero. I tried a technique I've seen from time to time - shading in grey.  Of course I couldn't resist adding some pops of colour and shine! Pop over to ABNH for more details and a chance to win a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp!

A Blog Named Hero - Recycling Challenge

It's August 1 (how did THAT happen!?) and time for a new challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

Many of you know that usually when I make a card, a few of the first attempts often end up in the recycling, but I rarely set out to recycle something to use in a card. But there's lots of things you could use - some pretty packaging, old gift wrap or ribbon, I even considered using the rim as a yogurt tub as a stamp. In the end, I had some bubble wrap from a recently-arrived package from GinaK, and I decided to see how that would ink up.

I used Versamark on the bubbles and then overstamped in Neon pink with the heart from the Brush Strokes set. Because the pink was still wet when I put embossing powder on it, it also was embossed and stayed nice and bright when I sponged London Fog ink over top. I love how the white and pink really pop! I loved it so much I made another one!

ABNH - Colouring with Stickles

Many of you who know me, know that I LOVE Stickles glitter glue. They come in all sorts of colours, they're easy to work with and they don't leave the mess that loose glitter does.

A Blog Named Hero - Playing Favourites!

Starting today, there's a new challenge up at A Blog Named Hero! The challenge is to use your favourite Hero Arts stamp.

 The challenge for me was to pick my favourite Hero Arts stamp. Some of the first stamps I ever bought were Hero Arts and they are still in my collection.  And I've bought puh-lenty since then! One of my more recent favourites is this open flower. I love the simple design that can be used simply on its own, or like this, with a layer (or you could layer it even more!)

I embossed it with my sentiment in magenta on my white panel, and then again on the 6x6 version of the Picnic Table DP from Basic Grey's Lemonade collection. I matted it on the 12x12 version of the same DP, to take advantage of the two different scales. Finally, for the centre, a nice, big colour-coordinating gem for sparkle and shine!

ABNH Neat and Tangled Collaboration

A Blog Named Hero is having a collaboration with Neat and Tangled this week! Every day, you'll see wonderful inspiration using products from Neat and Tangled. For this simple but fun card, I stamped the chevron pattern from Little Tangles. I used a ruler and Copic multiliner to add in horizontal lines and create the shapes for colouring. I added sentiments from On Edge and some stickles for sparkle!
