Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!
I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!
LIST: Colours (navy, white, orange, turquoise, yellow, green), Techniques (joseph's coat, heat embossing), Elements (waves, sentiment strip, white frame, navy frame)
INCLUDE: white, orange, turquoise yellow, green
MODIFY: used black instead of navy, geometric pattern (not waves), used stencil instead of heat embossing for Joseph's coat, reversed frames - black then white, inlaid white on black sentiment instead of
EXCLUDE: stitched edges
SPIN: Negative frame, splatter and painted die cut stars.
I was fascinated by the colourful waves on the inspiration card, and realized that the look of Joseph's coat can be achieved in a number of different ways. The inspiration uses emboss-resist, and I changed mine to use a stencil over a panel blended with similar colours. In fact, my stencil was a coverplate die cut, which I like because I now have a black die cut that I can use on another card, rather than a stencil I have to clean! lol! I then customized the panel by using a small star die to create a little stencil, and added ink-blended stars into the design.
I used a MFT die cut sentiment, and cut a circle negative frame from my panel to add some interest. I also splattered the panel with some gold watercolour, then painted some paper with the same gold watercolour before die-cutting some stars to use as embellishments.
Love how you use the negative framing technique Ardyth - I always forget it! This is another stunning card, so much drama with the black stencilling over the rainbow background
