This week's One Layer Wednesday challenge is hosted by Cheryl and the challenge is to make a Christmas thank you card. I don't always make Christmas-specific thank you cards because, let's face it, by the time you send them, Christmas is over and I often am ready to move on from using the Christmas supplies. So that's a good reason to make some in advance.
I started with this one, substituting the penguin for the A. I used a new MFT alphabet called Max Alpha (great size - I hope they come out with the matching lower case set!) and the penguin is from Jolly Bingo Bits (Stampin' Up!). But this card felt a bit like cheating, because it's so similar to these cards I made last year. I used Real Red and Gumball Green.
So I went back to the drawing board and came up with this:
Ardyth, you make it look so easy to make one layer cards with just stamps. It was very challenging for me to use just stamps for the Birthday Sketch challenge over at the Moxie Fab World. I should study your cards because you really rock the CAS style. You really know how to use design and element placement. TFS!
ReplyDeleteGreat design is enduring ... and your sweet little penguin and last year's cards are fantastic examples of your great design, Ardyth! The graphic card is so cool ... love how you emphasised the offset sentiment block using the tree placement! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteArdyth....I love both of these. Fabulous and you're inspiring me for as always. I really love the trees on the second one.
ReplyDeleteLove the jolly penguin - and the Xmas trees! Fab inspiration as always! X
ReplyDeleteFlawless - love everything about them both! The MFT Alphabet stamp is exactly the right size for the penguin!
ReplyDeleteLove that penguin!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards - clever you to use the penguin in place of the A!!!
ReplyDeleteYour second card made me gasp out loud...an absolutely perfectly balanced graphic delight! Awesome colors too :)
Wonderful cards...love the cute penguin in place of the letter A!
ReplyDeleteI love them both Ardyth but the trees along the horizon is just brilliant :0)
ReplyDeleteI love that little penguin and I don't think I could ever get tired of the way you substitute the image for a letter! Love the trees too!
ReplyDeleteTwo very different feels, two perfectly stamped cards.
ReplyDeleteBoth are great, but that 2nd card is just killer! Love the [so well] balanced trees!!
ReplyDeleteGreat design on your tree lined card, Ardyth. Pure perfection! And, I just adore your penguin card. Very fun and festive. Thanks for playing along.
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are great, Ardy, super great, in fact! I have to say I adore the little penquin!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards! I love both but think you're a genius for using the n&t stamp's line as ground for the trees! Awesome
ReplyDeleteSOOOO cute and great use of the penguin stamp! I love my penguin stamps/dies and this card would be so fun to case. TFS, Ardyth! :)
ReplyDeleteFab cards - I love the offset Across the Page sentiment as a ground for the trees - fantastic!
ReplyDeleteNot cheating at all - if a design works then use it! Love the penguin and the embossed stripes.
ReplyDeleteDiggin' the richer colours on the second card.
Two super cards. I just got that N&T set, and am pinning your idea of the trees along the line of the stamp. It's brilliant.
