For this week's Less Is More challenge, to use scallops. I created my multicoloured scallops by outlining a circle in pencil, then stamping dots on the pencil line. I popped up the circle sentiment panel, so that half of each dot is hidden underneath. This is one of my favourite colour combinations for girl birthday cards!
I was really hoping to have lots of time in my craft room this long weekend, but these (ie my) kids have kept me very busy - lots of outside time on the two nicest days of 2013 (so far!). If this trend continues for much longer, we're going to have to call it Spring!
ETA - I love the comments about how I managed to fit the circles perfectly around with no space or overlap. (and, if you notice, a complete cycle of colours). I wish I could explain my mathematical calculations and predictions, but it was pure dumb luck!

Brilliant way to design your scallops, Ardyth! I love all the fun colors, too...another really awesome card!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteOh my... that must have taken a practice run to know all the circles would fit without spaces or overlaps!! Brilliant effect and love the colours too :)

Wonderful! Great colour combo. How did you know that you would get a perfect fit for the circles on the big circle? I know if I tried it, I would get to the end and there would not be enough space for the last one!
ReplyDeletePerfect! Fab colours :) Cathy
ReplyDeleteBrilliantly done! Love the colours
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love the circle of scallops! and I know...weather has been great...but the week looks like winter is back. Yuck!
ReplyDeletePerfect placing and colour cycles, Ardyth ...you might call it pure dumb luck ... I call it incredible inherent talent and skill! Simply awesome! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Great choice of colors and *perfect* stamping!
ReplyDeleteWhat terrific, accurate stamping Ardyth. This looks tremendous!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
Happy Easter!

Ditto to all the comments about ur circle stamping! Fab card, very contemporary. Caggy x
ReplyDeleteYour dumb luck precision is scary! Mine would be just dumb without the luck! Fabulous card, and I adore that colour combo.
ReplyDeleteLuck....then I'd be scooting out to the nearest lottery retailer and buying a Loto 649 ticket! These colors really are gorgeous together! Love how the wee dots highlight the sentiment!
ReplyDeleteHappy & Blessed Easter wishes to you and your family.
Sometimes the only thing a person can say in response to one of your stunning cards is, "WOW!"
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! Enjoy the kiddies and the (ssh) Springlike weather!! xxoo Darnell
Homemade scallops--I just love it. Clever and beautiful, too. It's like a party on a card.
ReplyDeleteOK, done making food, done hosting Easter Vigil, done with my posts, and I've got 20 minutes before the green bean casserole is done and we leave for Aunty's house. I'm here! My time to sit back and enjoy some eye candy on your blog : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic color combination! I love that it's so HAPPY without even having yellow. And that it's so colorful while still having so much white space. Your dots on the sentiment are perfectly placed, even though there are an even number of them. Only you can break the rules and still have it turn out better : ) Of course, the obvious, fantastic stamping around the circle too. What an all-out wonderful card, Ardyth!
Great design for a card, simple and colourful!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty...so festive for a birthday card and I love your circle background, you are just too darn clever, it is so perfect!
ReplyDeleteVery clever way to create the scallop, love it!
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs

Now if I'd tried to just stamp circles around a circle...I would have had a big blank spot not quite big enough for one more stamped circle! You amaze me, Ardyth...a VERY Ardyth-ish card!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour scheme on this. Cute way of making the scallops too.
ReplyDeleteGreat Card. I love the colours.
ReplyDeletegroetjes, Gonny
Your cleverness and talent never ceases to amaze me. You stamping is just perfect and I love the happy colors, white space, and subtle layer of the extra white panel.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours you've used. Fab design. x
