This card is for this week's Festive Friday Trigger challenge - Merry.
I spent a day reminding myself why I don't use my Cricut very often (sorry, Anita!). My recycling bin is full but in the end, I'm very happy with this. The "Merry" is from the Simply Sweet font cartridge. I cut 3 of them out of Whisper White and used the negative die cut over strips of Lucky Limeade and Real Red that had been run through the cuttlebug with my grosgrain texture plate. The ends of the strips overhang the card slightly, to add a little interest. The card is 4.25 x 4.25 so it will fit into a standard envelope, even with the little overhangs, no problem.
As for today's post's title - it's STILL looking a lot like Christmas around here, so I figured I may as well embrace it and be Merry! lol!
Love this, Ardyth!! The design and font coupled with the color...wonderful! Makes ME mucho merry:)!!
ReplyDeletewell the end result is awesome...but I'm right there with you...rarely use my Cricut!!
ReplyDeleteTerrific card! Like the negative over the emb cardstock that I thought at first glance was grosgain ribbon. The shades of color are nice. Looks like, here in northern Illinois, that we are in for a little more white stuff this coming Sunday. Glad I didn't already put away my snowman stamps/dies. Hee! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely bright and festive! We have the white stuff here today as well.
ReplyDeleteThis card makes me smile...love it! At first glance, I thought your color strips were grossgrain ribbon too...great idea! I don't use my Cricut much either...usually only for a letter or number to be cut out. (but I still remember thinking "I HAD to have it"!!)
ReplyDeleteSuper cool idea! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove this, the paper sticking out the edges is perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteReally a fun card Ardyth! I do like my cricut, but am putting the Cameo on my Christmas list--will give the Cricut to church so it won't go to waste. Anyway...very CAS and beautiful. It makes me smile. : ) Bev
ReplyDeleteWow... an amazingly crisp, clean, colorful card! Love the grosgrain texture!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. Love the simplicity of it.
ReplyDeleteAt least you are way ahead of me when it comes to the Cricut. I had a different electronic cutter before that I didn't really get along with at all for several reasons so I thought, "Oh yeah, the cartridges will make it really easy!" But, I think all the things I didn't like about the other cutter has just given me a phobia about all electronic cutters because the Cricut has been sitting on a shelf for over 2 years... maybe over 3 years and and I've never even turned it on! I keep saying I'll jump in and try it, but never do.
ReplyDeleteI really like your card! I don't have that cartridge, but you've made me want to try my Cricut. But, I have Easter cards that I have to work on today... so there's always a good excuse not to try the Cricut! LOL!!
WELL worth the effort (and frustration and wasted paper) because this is fabulous! Love the grossgrain ribbon peeking out just a bit! Fabulous colors.
ReplyDeleteI just came across another challenge that this card would be perfect for. I'll see if I can find it and send you the link :)
This is awesome Ardyth! You nailed the challenge!
ReplyDeleteGreat card! Really like the font. TFS ;-)
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE this, Ardyth! A simple yet totally stunning design makes for a gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at CAS-ual Fridays!
Sylvia xx
That lovely grosgrain again. You just reminded me to put it on my order list. You did great with the Cricut. It just takes practice or Design Studio which is what I use.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this!
ReplyDeleteIt was worth the full recycle bin for this cool graphic card!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I must get that grosgrain texture plate. And the pieces hanging out are a cool bit of unexpectedness.
ReplyDeleteMy backyard still looks ALOT like Christmas, too. 12 ft. bank. I've decided to embrace it and go skiing for Spring Break! Sometimes you just have to roll with it.
Well, in theory, I'd say this is a perfect card to mass produce for Chirstmas, but I know better. Every other cut would have some tearing for me on those thin letters, and then going back to piece the insides of the letters takes forEVER to line them up, even if you have the positive word as a guide. So, it's a beautiful one-shot card! Great idea, great execution, third time is definitely a charm for you : ) So glad you dropped your stamps to play at CASual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is GORGEOUS! Another one!! I had to really study the pic to decide if that was grosgrain, or paper, and now I know it's both. This turned out SO awesome, I love it! Thanks for treating us to your beautiful creations every week, it is truly a treat!
ReplyDeleteooh ooh ooh!
ReplyDeleteI like!
You used your Cricut!! And to splendid effect too, this is fab, especially with the festive grosgrain strips underneath the jolly merries! The paper bin loves Cricut here too ... I keep telling myself I'll sort out Cricut Studio which (I believe) takes away a lot of the trial and error ... now I just need to find the time. Ha, that'll be easy then! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE your card! It screams CAS, and I love the bold words!
ReplyDeleteOh, Ardyth...you're so stinkin' creative!!! This is adorable! And adding the texture to your colored strips was a brilliant idea!!!! LOVE!!! Thank you for being such a faithful participant in our challenges...your creations are always a delight!!!
