Catherine Pooler Designs - Hello!

Remember March, when Catherine released the beautiful butterfly set, Faithful Flutterings? Did you wish there were dies for those butterflies? So did I! And so did every member of the Creative Team, so we pestered Catherine (I mean asked nicely, of course!!) and here they are, available in the shop today, along with some other goodies! Yay!

Purple tape is all the rage right now, and Amodex "is a non-toxic, soap based, formula for on-the-spot cleaning in the home, at the office and on the road! Works on everything from oil-based to dye related stains including Sharpie, and other inks on all fabrics, leather, carpets, upholstery, flooring, counters, furniture, and more. As a non-toxic soap, Amodex is safe to use on skin for quick art clean-up from paints and inks! The applications for Amodex are limitless, without affecting color fastness!
The Amodex Ink and Stain Remover can remove all sorts of stains from your fabrics, surfaces, and skin
Effective on ballpoint, rollerball, whiteboard, permanent, and highlighter inks".

I understand that it will not remove the Midnight staining on your stamps, but it's great at getting it off your hands!

For my card, I used my favourite CP Ink rainbow to ink up the butterflies' wings with the solid layer on a white panel. I used two colours on each butterfly.

I used the die to cut them out and then stamped the bodies onto them.

Next, I stamped each butterfly using the partial-wing layer with Versamark and sprinkled Wanderlust ep over and heat it up for some sparkle.

Then I laid the butterflies back into the panel, backed on a black mat.  Here's a close up. Don't you love how it takes on the colours of the ink underneath it?

Essentials by Ellen May Release - Thanks

Have you had a chance to get a good look at all the new products from Essentials by Ellen yet? Yesterday, I used the Mondo Sakura and today I'm focusing on the new sentiment set, Totally Random Sayings, Volume 2. And there's more to come this week!

I started by stamping my colourful sentiment using Catherine Pooler inks. I love the contrast between the solid capital letters and the smaller script words.

Next, I lined up letters from the new Classic Block Alphabet dies to create a shaker front.  Because the word almost reaches the very ends of my panel, I used acetate to create walls for a no-edge shaker.

Here's a video showing the process:

Here's another card I made, using the Plaid Maker set to create a rainbow checker board.

Hello

I'm back with another card using the new Mondo Sakura from Essentials by Ellen. This time I coloured it with cool grey copics to leave it looking white, but with some shadows.

I did some partial diecutting so that my plaid background could peek over the top of the pretty flowers and added stickles to my sentiment for sparkle.

FS587 - Marvelous Mom

Congratulations to this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper, Connie (Conniecraft). I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on Connie's:
-pink florals
-blue, green, pink colours
-layout (flowers in bottom left, sentiment above right)

I changed:
-softened the colours, added more white
-fewer background elements

I'm using some of the newest products from Essentials by Ellen, that are available starting today!

I started with a watercolour panel and inked up the newest Mondo flower (Mondo Sakura) with Versamark, and embossed with Alabaster embossing powder.

I wanted the petals to be mostly white, with soft pink centres, so I watercoloured the flowers by filling each each petal with water and then laying down some It's A Girl ink in the centres, and letting the pigment travel in the water. This results in a natural fade out. Once the petals were dry, I added a layer of pink in the centres for more intense colour. I added some Garden Green to the stems and filled in the background with Skylight and filled in the stamens with a Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker.

To add interest, I used the matching die to cut out the flowers and placed them in the bottom left corner. Using some of the 'off-cut' watercoloured background, I cut out MOM using the new Block Alphabet dies and popped them up with foam tape. I used some of the script sentiments from the new Totally Random Sayings Version 2, stamped in Black Jack ink.

MCV99 - Adore

Here's my card for the current Muse: ChristmasVisions challenge, where Kimberly gave us an elegant inspiration:

It's elegant, but I was stumped for a while! I was really focused on Santa and the colour. I didn't think my Santas would work, so I turned to the other Christmas 'Big Guy'. Every year, I make 300 Christmas cards for my church and my parents' church, and I try to spread the creating through the year, to avoid a panic. Well, this is my first one for 2018. Only 299 to go! lol!

I focused on Kimberly's:
-copper and cream colour scheme
-classic layout of image over sentiment
-scallop
-horizontal elements

I simply stamped the image and sentiment with Versamark and then heat-embossed with copper embossing powder.

I masked the fold of my card based and inked up about an inch of the bottom of the card front directly with my Versamark ink and embossed that with coper as well.

I cut a scalloped edge with a Catherine Pooler rectangle die and popped it up on the card front so that the copper shows along the bottom.

Muse 264 - Happy Birthday

Here's my card for this week's Muse Challenge, where Guest Muse Lynne has given us this sweet birthday inspiration:

I focused on Lynne's:
-big bunch of flowers
-birthday
-dark pink, green, beige & white colours
-layout of image/sentiment travelling from bottom left to top right

Lynne's puppy image is adorable but I chose to focus on the flowers, and capture his beige colour in my kraft card base.

I used new Simon Says Stamp products - Centre Cut Flowers and the Happy Birthday Script die.

The flowers come as a 6x6 flower frame with a flower arrangement in the centre that can be stamped all together, or removed and stamped separately. I focused on the centre arrangement.

I used the centre portion of the flowers and stamped them in the centre of my panel. I then created a mask for that arrangement and stamped it again on each side. I then used Copics to colour the original centre portion plus a few more on each side, leaving the flowers on the edges uncoloured.

I'm also linking up to the Anything Goes challenge at Seize the Birthday.

I'm on the A Jillian Vance Design blog today with this fun folk-art card (and video) inspired by Laura Bassen
