Tag You're It #73 - Reminder

Good morning! I'm back with another tag for the current Tag You're It Challenge. I was inspired by this tag by Tracey:

I focused on Tracey's:
-colours - white pink purple and black
-partial image at the top left
-black hello
-fun bottom edge

I created a wreath of little flowers with Tilly's Magic Garden stamps and used a die cut sentiment. The tag, reinforcer and scalloped edge die are all from Tags, etc., which was part of the Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval collection. This collection is sold out but the individual products will be made available in the futre.

Tag You're It #73 - Birthday Wishes

Good morning! I'm so excited that today, my good friend Tracey has invited me to be a Guest Designer at Tag You're It

Here's her beautiful inspiration, using one of my favourite SugarPea Designs Stamps (Mandala).

Well, of course, I just wanted to remake Tracey's gorgeous design, but that's not what this is all about, is it?

I focused on Tracey's:
-colours
-layout

TYIC71 - Hello Friend

My friend Lindsey is the Guest at this month's Tag You're It Challenge. Here's her inspiration tag:

I focused on Lindsey's:
-red flowers
-hello sentiment

I used a new die set from A Jillian Vance Design. It has a bookmark die, a tag die, a label die and a tassel-maker template die. Yes! I made that tassel with some embroidery thread and the template! (there's a how-to video at the AJVD shop).

I shortened the bookmark to make a tag to fit the front of my card. I did this by cutting a full-sized bookmark and then replacing my bookmark in the die, but with the end of the die closer to the top. I only ran through the very end of the die through my Big Shot - this made sure that my tag has the same scalloped corners that the bookmark has!

I stamped the sentiment first, in Versafine Onyx, and embossed it with clear ep. I then stamped the flowers in Memento (using my MISTI) before colouring with Copics (it's not good for your Copics to colour embossed images). When I was finished, I popped the tag back into my MISTI and restamped it with Versafine and embossed it to match the sentiment. The colours of my flowers were pretty intense, so I lightened it up a bit by adding some dots with a white gel pen.

To emphasize the pretty scalloped edges, I used a black gel pen to create little dots.

TYIC70 - Awesome!

I admit it. I have tag-phobia. I don't know why. I don't know if I had a bad experience with a tag in my childhood (come on, really?!). But I generally don't like making tags. Weird. I know. Hey, I've been called worse! lol!

But my friend Kim is the guest at the current Tag, You're It Challenge, with an adorable inspiration, so I decided to face my phobia and play along!

I focused on Kim's:
-colours - brown, blue and green
-animal and fish theme
-black sentiment

I used 4 colours of blue and green distress ink and smooshed a watery background on my tag (leaving a white area for my sentiment) and left it to dry while I watercoloured my otter, fish and starfish. I used the wet-on-wet technique with 4 colours of brown for the otter and am happy with the resulting shading and blending.
