CASology 51 - Fireworks!

This week's CASology Cue Card is Fireworks!

Isn't this DeNami stamp amazing? And it's so easy to get this sparkly, fireworks effect  by using embossing powders that have glitter in them. Using Versamark I stamped the centre one first and embossed it in Egyptian Gold ep. Then I moved on to the lower right and embossed with Dragon Red, and finally the lower left and embossed with WOW! Platinum Sparkle.

I grouped the three 'bursts' closely together, to create one larger focal image. I love how they overlap and interact.  I kept the (Stamps of Life) sentiment generic and small, so that this can be used for many different occasions.

So now it's your turn - I can't wait to see what you all come up with! And don't forget to stop by the blogs of the DT members for even more inspiration! (especially our newest members, Gillian and Kimberly - I know you'll want to welcome them!)

Bowie Inspired - Golden years

This is the next Bowie-inspired card - remember this classic song - Golden Years (it also played a role in a Heath Ledger film - A Knight's Tale)?

This card is for my aunt and uncle, who are celebrating 50 years of marriage next month. I used some chipboard and acrylic paint daubers to make the frame and numbers, a Stampin' Up! sentiment, brushed gold, basic black and Very Vanilla cardstock.

Well, this little blog just hit another BIG milestone - 100 followers! WOW!

I just want to say thank you to every single one of you (and the rest of you who subscribe by email or just drop by occasionally). You are all so important to me!

While I make cards because I love to make cards, I also love hearing your comments and getting to know you a little bit through this amazing place known as the Internet.

I certainly hope to be around for a long time - here's to the next 100!

Ten Thousand Thanks!

Those of you who know me will agree that I'm a success-driven, goal-in-view kind of a girl. I love a good challenge, I love hard work and I love the feelings of success and accomplishment that comes with those things.

When I started blogging on January 20, I wasn't sure how to define success for this new venture of mine (but yes, I did feel a need to define it - I am an accountant after all!). Was it number of views? Number of followers? Number of comments? These are all very good indicators (and quantifiable - my favourite!).

In the end, I decided that I would decide if I was successful, based on how I felt about the whole thing. A very ethereal concept for a person who loves concrete practicality. But then cardmaking and crafting felt very intimidating to me at one point as well - I did not see myself as a creative, artsy type of person, but over time, I've grown and learned and even had some good, creative moments, if I do say so myself.

And I do feel that this blog has been successful. Sure, I like some of my work better than the rest, but that's  the nature of creativity. I've certainly been more focused and productive in my card making and I love it - I look forward to creating and posting every day.

But that's no reason not to celebrate other more quantifiable milestones and we've hit one - 10,000 views! Wow! That exceeds all my expectations and even hopes for this blog in this short timeframe.

Thank you so much for your support, your kind comments and words of encouragement - they really mean a so much to me!

Here's a special card, just for you!
