CFC132 - What a Catch!
Time for the next CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
The challenge is to make a masculine card that uses ribbon and (here's the catch!) no kraft.
Hmmmm. It's ALWAYS a challenge for me to use ribbon, but on a masculine card? Seems like that's the trickier catch for me! lol! I chose navy grosgrain.
I came up with this 'gold medal' award idea for Father's Day. Brickworks is the perfect set for that - lots of great sentiments that can be used for a Father's Day card. I embossed 'good job dad' in gold on brushed gold cardstock and cut it out with a circle nestability. I felt it needed to be bigger so I decided to layer it onto another piece of gold and a slightly larger piece of red. I added hearts from Sands of Time to created more interest.
I could have made this card 4.25x5.5 so that the medal would fit right on the card, but I think it's more fun this way, with the medal sticking out on the top. It will still fit in a regular envelope.
I hope you'll get a chance to play along - the deadline for this challenge is June 20.
Love, love, love this!
ReplyDeleteArdyth this is really so brilliant! I love your medal and so adaptable for other masculine cards!
ReplyDeleteThis is super cute!
ReplyDeleteGold on gold is just stunning, I have to try this :) This medal looks real !!
ReplyDeleteSo cool and masculine, Ardyth ... love how the medal sits above the edge of the card ... it emphasises the message so brilliantly! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThe ribbon works perfectly with that gold medal! Some dad is going to be very happy to receive this one!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant take on the challenge, love this idea, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic Father's Day card and the design would work perfectly for a birthday or good job! Love the ribbon and the gold medal!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great card, Ardyth. I have often made the 4.25 by 4.25 cards with the topper sticking up. It really showcases your "honor badge" that way and the gold work on it is tremendous.
ReplyDeleteVery cool!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the medal hanging extending over the top of the card. Your card is coolly masculine :)
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the medal, great card!
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT idea! BRILLIANT elements (literally)! Definitely 'cool' and masculine!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL card! Any dad would be thrilled to get this gold metal of honor.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous way to use a ribbon. This is the perfect Father's Day card, and I do like how the medal pops up over the edge of the card.
