OLW113, TMS171 - Happy Holidays
I have spent the afternoon so far just tidying my craft room, finishing cards that were not quite there (usually adding an inside white panel where the cardbase is dark, or stamping my 'Ardyth' stamp on the back). While I was doing that, I came across this card I made earlier in the week, and promptly forgot about.
I made it for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge, to use dark red, green and gold. I used an Impress poinsettia in Cherry Cobbler, gold beads for the centres, and Almost Artichoke for the Papertrey sentiment. I added depth to the petals by going over the centre-ends with a copic marker - it really does add something!
But, during the week, I also came across a new (to me) challenge called Tuesday Morning Sketches. It's obviously not that new, since it's at challenge 171, but the fun, simple sketch also inspired me while I was making this card.
Now I'm hoping to get back upstairs to think about some more horsey cards. FYI - I added a link to this morning's post, so that you can find Deadbeat Designs' online store if you want.

These poinsettias are beautiful! SU's Cherry Cobbler is such a deep, rich color...hope they don't decide to discontinue it soon!
ReplyDeleteThe gold beads are the perfect bit of subtle bling!
Funny that you mentioned finishing the inside of cards...that is #1 on my To Do List today. I have 13 cards to do!!! Takes forever cuz I also decorate my envelopes!
Your horsey cards are fabulous too! I absolutely love the Animal Spirits stamp. The colors that you used are perfect...almost a mehndi tattoo look.
Fantastic card Ardyth, love those pretty poinsettias.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card! I love the bold contrast of the poinsettias against the white, and the shading definitely adds depth. The sentiment looks good in dark green too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Ardyth. I think "a true Christmas classic" when I see this card. It's gorgeous :)

Thanks so much for the link to the Deadbeat Designs site. I wonder why that didn't come up in my search... very strange! So, I really appreciate you taking the time to add the link.
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to stop buying poinsettia stamps... like snowflake stamps and butterfly stamps and a few other images. I love your CAS use of this poinsettia stamp. Wonderful card!
What a beautiful, classy card! I love how you touched up the centers with a Copic. So glad you found us at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Hope you'll play along again next week, too! :)
ReplyDeleteA super CAS Christmas card, Ardyth. I love red and white for Christmas. Thank you for visiting my blog x
