Happy Birthday Thomas

Today is my nephew's 14th birthday. He's the first grandchild on my side of the family and I still remember rushing to the hospital to meet him, not realizing that I was already pregnant with Struan. Seems like it was yesterday.

Over the years, the two cousins have grown and their interests have evolved from trucks and dinosaurs to paintball and laser tag. They are both quickly turning into independent and interesting young men (some days more than others!). Next they'll be driving and bringing home girlfriends (which one's scarier?) and then leaving home - whoa! Slow down!

For today, let's just say that this card matches his present. All 1,500 of them (camouflage paintballs, green on the outside, orange on the inside!) That should keep him busy for a while!

To make the card, I used an old Kindergarten trick - I dropped Only Orange and Always Artichoke ink on the page and then blew with a straw to make it move. Then I got a headache and I had to sit down for a while! lol! This old Printworks sentiment seemed to fit right in.

Happy Birthday, Thomas - we all hope you have a fantastic day!

  1. oooh, what a fun technique! Even just one of these splotches would make a great card (or Halloween spider/bug/monster.) Love that you coordinated the card to your present, such an eye for detail!

  11. Fabulous idea, matching the card to the present, and I bet your nephew will be impressed!

It's a bit like the inkblot test - I've already seen a monster, a dead dog and a bra ... hope your nephew doesn't see all of the same things!
