I was cruising Pinterest yesterday (who me?!) and found this card...
...and thought: DARN, yet ANOTHER card that makes me wish I had a Cameo Silhouette. I love circles and the possibilities of this cut are just endless. But I CAN NOT justify another expensive machine. I have a Cricut, but that was a Christmas present one year (although I managed to justify all the cartridges and a Gypsy, but I am trying to keep my crafting costs down and I digress.....)
So I challenged myself to come up with something similar. Looking for colour inspiration, I came across this week's Colour Q:
I used Early Espresso and Cameo Coral rather than those in the Colour Q, but Ryan Gosling told me that I could use colours that are close, because Arielle's cool like that! lol! Go to the site, if you don't get this reference - it made me laugh out loud the first time I saw it! Those ladies sure know how to have fun!
I don't think I got the exact same look as the inspiration (I usually work on my card without having the inspiration in front of me - especially if it's a card - I don't want to just copy someone's work!), but I do think it's kind of cool in its own way.
Lovely card, Ardyth, such gentle colours. You asked about my printer. It is a Canon PIXMA MG5250. Here is a link to the Canon UK website, but you might be better Googling it. As well as a cartridge tray, it has a fold away rear paper tray, which allows card to just drop in and be printed on. I am printing onto card up to 300 gsm with no problems. http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Multifunctionals/Inkjet/PIXMA_MG5250/index.aspx
ReplyDeleteNow there's no way I would have got those rings lined up in the circles (with or without grids/jigs etc!). I like how you've arranged the colours.
ReplyDeleteI think your version of the card is fantastic Ardyth! So bold and modern.
ReplyDeleteOh I hear you on the Silhouette Ardyth. I have a Cricut...that is mainly used for school projects to cut out large letters. At least it's not permanently collecting dust!
ReplyDeleteFabulous take on the inspiration photo! Love how the sentiment is in a circle.
Ardyth you did a great job without a Silhouette--love this card. Thank you so much for sharing with us this week at the colourQ!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun card, Ardth, love the clean and simple look! No I don't think another machine is needed as you have been very creative with what you have. So happy you joined us this week at the colourQ. Thanks for sharing your card!
ReplyDeleteKnow what? Your card is cooler than Ryan Gosling!!! I giggle every single time I see that pic. Awesome job lining everything up so precisely. I am not a fan of Choc. Chip so I love the Early Espresso substitution. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI saw that card and thought, I really need to use my Cameo more :( Seriously I'm so used to crafting without it that I forget all the cool things it can do. And look at you creating something equally great with just these fun circles! Inspiring indeed! Thanks for joining us at colourQ. Ryan would be proud.
ReplyDeleteHi Ardyth! I frequently check out your blog and love the inspiration you provide with every post, sooo...I have nominated you for a Liebster award! Please check out my blog at www.imcreaterin.blogspot.ca for all the details :)
