Waterlily Birthday

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Cathy (cathymac).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on Cathy's:
-repeating pattern
-rainbow of colours with white highlights

I changed:
-geometric pattern to floral
-stamped to die cut
-no black sentiment strip

I purchased this Spellbinders A2 Tulip Frame coverplate in the spring, and between slow postal delivery and other deadlines am now using it in the summer!

I simply cut the cover plate from white cardstock, coloured all the pieces with Copic markers and inlaid them back into the frame. It really is simple to do, but it does take some time.

My no-blend colouring style was inspired by Yana, who has been doing this technique lately. It's such a fun look! My favourite part is the blue pieces. I intended them to be blue sky, but I think that they really look like water, and that turns my tulips into waterlilies!

My simple sentiment is from Essentials by Ellen Backyard Party, stamped on a circle cut with EBE Essential Circles.

  1. Love your waterlilies, Ardyth! Gorgeous! I have Yana's technique on my must-try list; hoping to get to it sometime soon! You've definitely inspired me to start sorting through my floral stash! Excited for the July 1st video hop!
