Merry Monday - Christmas In Summer

Today is the final day of #thedailymarker30day colouring challenge. I tried to design another card for my Church Christmas Card project and looked around in my wooden stamps. I found this new Hero Arts sentiment and an old (not very) Stampin' Up! poinsettia (Joyful Christmas) that seemed to have similar line weights and feel.

I had fun layering the reds onto my poinsettias to achieve some good blending, variation and depth. I used 3 different Zig Cleancolor Real Markers for the red leaves and then a light brown and yellow for the flowers. I love the vintage feel of the off white Bristol cardstock with the gold embossing and all the shimmer from my Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear brushpen.

This design is pretty labour-intensive for my Church Christmas Card project (I usually make 24 of each design), but you may see a simplified version of it in December.

I admit that only once I was done, did I go looking for a challenge to link up this card and found Merry Monday's Christmas in Summer challenge. You can link up Christmas cards over the summer to 'catch up' with their past challenges. So I'm 'catching up' with Challenge 210, to use Love, Peace or Joy. Such a fun idea! I may do some more catching up this month!

  7. My friend and fellow crafter, Jennifer, stopped over yesterday. I had to show her this card, Ardyth, as it has really struck a chord with me. She was as impressed and amazed as I was upon seeing it. It is stunning. Your use of three Ziggies for the leaves shows; the depth of color is just beautiful. The most beautiful Christmas card ever.
