Church Christmas Project - Day 5 (O Holy Night)

Click here for more information about my Church Christmas Card project and a link to my Pinterest board for more cards I made in past years

Today's card was made very early in 2015 and speaks to the ease of 'sloppy' watercolouring. I started by cutting the top panel in watercolour paper using an Frantic Stamper Tree-line die. I literally pounced various green shades of Kuretake Gansai Tambi onto the trees, not even worrying about the edges (they look like they're snow-covered!). I took a bit more care with the brown trunks. I stamped a Taylored Expressions sentiment from Sing of the King and then attached the white 'half-panel' to a navy panel and sprayed the whole thing with BoBunny Mist in Biscotti. It's very shimmery in real life.

  1. What a fabulous card Ardyth - I thought the sprayed background may be shimmery :-). Love that line of trees.

  4. Adore your 'sloppy water coloring' technique! The sky is AMAZING! Love the large patch of snow - the perfect backdrop for the beautiful sentiment.

  5. I love the way the trees are painted and the spattered sky is perfect behind them.

  6. The trees look perfectly snow covered! Possibly better than if you'd painstakingly tried for that effect. ;) Beautiful.

  7. What a brilliant technique the pounced watercolour is on those trees, Ardyth ... they really do look snow covered! Stunning background (I'm imagining the shimmer) ... and such a beautiful sentiment! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
