CTS121 - Happy Birthday!

This is my card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. Here's the sketch:

I started by masking off a portion of the white panel and sponging it with 3 blue distress inks. I stamped the Simon Says Stamp birthday in navy blue to continue the ombre effect. I used two Papertrey dies (anyone have any good advice for getting those suckers out of the die once they're cut?) and finished with a pop of yellowy-orange, using a Doodlebug sparkly enamel dot.

  5. Gorgeous card today, Ardyth...I love it. As for getting the paper out of the dies, a little piece of washi tape does the trick for me. Or, you can use the dryer sheet technique. (watch it on youtube) It works like a charm!

  6. Oh so gorgeous, Ardyth! My only trick, if one can call it that, is to use washi tape and use a little stick and pull action... thanks for playing cards this week with us at CTS!

  7. This is CAS perfection, Ardyth. So beautiful. I use dryer sheets to get all the pieces out of my dies. Works great for me.

  8. I was going to email PTI and suggest that they need to put a little hole in each die. I just ruined a whole lot of little flowers trying to get them out.
    Your card is beautiful.

  10. Gorgeously simple card!

I've also had luck by putting a piece of wax paper between my dies and the paper I'm cutting. But you're right, PTI NEEDS to add those tiny little holes. ;)

  12. I put a piece of waxed paper (from the kitchen) between the die and the paper. It usually falls right out. Still trying to find something cool to do with the waxed paper piece!😀

  13. Awesome card! Love how you continued the ombre shading into the sentiment! Beautifully blended panel!

I don't own any PTI dies so was surprised to hear that there were no 'pop out' holes! Honestly, I LOVE poking out a diecut from the dies!

  20. I love how CAS this card is. The distress inks add enough of an impact in a small space that it is all you need. I agree, PTI has a few dies that could use the tiny holes. I've started to add my own!
