Modern Love
My friend's brother got married last weekend. She asked me to make a card for them, in their colour scheme of black, white and silver.
They're pretty young, so I decided to go sleek and modern. I started with a stacked heart in a silver foil paper that I think looks almost like stainless steel. I inlaid the 'lway', and added the 'a' and 's' outside. The trickiest bit of this was the spacing of the letters, so I lined the dies up on my graph paper and then picked them up with masking tape to keep them properly spaced when I cut them out of the heart.
We dropped Struan at his gliding school yesterday. He'll be there for 2 1/2 weeks or so, and when he's done, he'll be fully qualified for his license (except for the small fact that he's only 15 - he'll have to wait until he's 16 to actually be licensed). I'm trying hard not to think of him thousands of feet up in the air with only the wind holding him up! :-)
Absolute stunning design Ardyth!
ReplyDeleteWow! This card is amazing! And it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteStruan is pretty amazing, too! 15 and going away to get his gliding licence. Fantastic! Does he have long to wait until he's 16?
Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteHope the gliding training goes swimmingly!

Beautiful card Ardyth! I love the color combo the wedding couple has chosen, makes for a very beautiful card. I love the sleek and modern take on it too. Love that you inlaid part of the "always", looks so nice. Yikes, I can't say I blame you, I wouldn't want to think of my son that high in the air with only the air holding him up, we mother's are like that. I had a hard time knowing my son had to go to war and that I had no control over that. I guess we will always be a mom no matter how old they will get. But I'm sure it is very exciting for your son to soon be able to get his license!! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteIt is truly amazing what our kids can accomplish. I'd be a nervous wreck too for Struan but oh so proud as you are Ardyth. Your wedding card is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteStunning card! They are going to love it -- I had a tough time with my kid behind a car wheel, let along a plane! Good for him, tough for you :)
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning, I love the inlaid technique :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is stunning and so sophisticated looking!
ReplyDeletePerfect modern design for the wedding card Ardyth!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and real modern too! Great card! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteClassy and cool - great for a wedding!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so elegant. I loved the perfectly executed inlaid technique.
ReplyDeleteVery modern and cool, Ardyth ... the precision inlaid die cuts are stunning! How exciting for Struan ... what an amazing adventure ... albeit a smidge scary for you! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, and a wonderful Bowie post title...I caught that right away, lol! I'm sure your friend was thrilled with this card, it's amazing. And Struan GLIDING???!!! Wow! How wonderful for him, and perhaps less so for you. It's hard to watch them grow up...but if you're a good parent, then they aren't afraid to "fly", in the many of life's ways. Odds are, you're a great parent. hugs. Bev
ReplyDeleteWonderful design! Love the way you used the cut out to add the silver heart and the sequins are perfectly placed. Great way to add the sentiment, too. :)
ReplyDeleteIn a word, Ardy, this is a masterpiece!! Talk about "can't stop staring!" I can't stop staring!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteBe still my speedy beating 'chrome' lovin' heart! The inlaid letters are beyond brilliant!
ReplyDeleteYep - Darnell called it...a masterpiece for sure!
Definitely sleek and modern :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous card and yes, very sleek and modern, I love it! And gliding class...oh my, I would be such a nervous nelly. Good for Struan, you must be so proud.
ReplyDeleteVery cool design, and great tip on how to keep your letters evenly spaced. You are a brave mom to let your son learn to glide. It's in the air, right?
ReplyDeleteJust fabulous Ardyth, love how those letters run straight through the heart :0)
