This card is for this week's Muse and CAS-ual Friday challenges:
Here's Anita's Muse card.
When I saw the lines with dots , I immediately thought of music - and then when I pulled out my case of music stamps and found this sentiment, it seemed to fall into place with the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge - the never ending love song goes on over the edge.
The beauty of going over the edge with a 4.25 inch square card is that it will still fit in a 4.25x5.5 envelope.
The beauty of going over the edge with a 4.25 inch square card is that it will still fit in a 4.25x5.5 envelope.
But then I had another idea - the lines and circles also made me think of Christmas ornaments. I also had the current Festive Friday Tree challenge in my mind and I came up with this, using an unknown ornament, a ruler and Copic Multiliner and a simple Savvy sentiment.
These cards are both wonderful. I especially like the music card. What a great way to go off the edge.
ReplyDeleteOoh. Love that bauble tree. Nice touch of shadow behind for a bit of extra oomph. Jenny
ReplyDeleteOK. The house is quiet (it's almost 2 am, it better be!) and I have all the time in the world to catch up on your blog. Life is good : )
ReplyDeleteLOVE how your sentiment and design go together so well on the first card ... it actually looks like a never ending love song with the music coming off the page and the notes being cut off. So glad you joined the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
Two great cards. Really like the Christmas one.
ReplyDeleteBoth fabulous cards -I adore the bauble Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing cards...I love them both...the music notes are fabulous and the tree - wowzers Ardyth.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way...the photography of your cards is always amazing.
The music card is such a wonderful interpretation of Anita's card. Love how the sheet music runs off the edge.
ReplyDeleteYou're a master at stamp alignment! The arrangement sure does look like a christmas tree. Very effective!
Wonderful music sentiment and love how the music flows off the card. I LOVE your tree card! That is so fun!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was... yes same wave length again! I saw guitar strings and then a music note bar... but in the end didn't use any of those ideas!
ReplyDeleteLove your clever music card!
Perty. Love! And it also forms a triangle which makes it look like a Christmas tree minus the lines!
ReplyDeleteOne question: how did you achieve the glitter round the edge of your card? Stickles? Glitter cardstock? Or?
Thank you :)
Hannah - That sparkle is all Stickles! Thanks for your kind comment!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. :) OK, so, maybe I have a second question now, forgive me, lol. But how do you apply the stickles? I ask because I've tried in the past (though a few years ago now and my card making skills have subsequently improved!) using straight from the bottle but was always left with a gloopy unsightly thick line. How do you get it so fine and smooth!? Thanks Ardyth. P.S- Your blog is one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, Ardyth! Love them both.
ReplyDeleteHannah - I wish I could tell you that I had a trick. I always work from right to left, (I'm left handed) so that my hand doesn't drag into the wet stickles, and I use very light pressure and dot the Stickles very lightly along the edge. Plus I've had years of practice - Stickles has to be one of my favourite products of all time! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you. That helps. :)
ReplyDeleteLove both cards <3 And I'm in love with the sentiment on the first card! Thanks for joining us at CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
ReplyDeleteThese are both so pretty! Love the way you put the never-ending theme in your card! Made me smile!! :D And the Christmas card is a beauty, so stylish!! Thanks also for your sweet comment on my card!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Wendy
Ardyth, you're just too clever!! I love that the never ending song never ends and that you made a tree out of ornaments - very out-of-the-box!! Love these cards, although I think the Christmas one wins slightly as my favourite ;)
ReplyDeleteI smiled when I saw your music Muse card, Ardyth, it's such a happy one ... so clever and I love how you've run the music off the page to reflect the sentiment! The bauble Christmas tree is truly amazing ... precision stamping and all that wonderful glitteriness! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was measures of music too! But I knew it wasn't for me to attempt. So glad you did, so I can see what the dream in my head looks like!! Gorgeous. Love it. Perfection. Card #2 is fantastic! My lines would be wobbly (yes, even with a ruler!)and smudgy. Love this too, perfect Christmas tree. If it weren't too hard to replicate, I'd make a zillion of these if I were you. Spectacular cards. Bev
ReplyDeletesimply beautiful! awesome cards! thanks so much for joining us this week at CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
ReplyDeleteLove how the notes float off the card.
ReplyDeleteI'll sing a never ending love song to your cards. So amazing, both of them. I looked at the muse and saw just what is there. I need to think freer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Ardyth! It is so appropriate that you would create such an amazing musical card...love the 'over the edge' component!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, I'm in awe of your perfectly stamped, perfectly placed and perfect stickled ornaments.
Off to a family reunion in Sask., then to visit Brady in Calgary, so will me MIA for the next week or so!
lol, your card is so clever! ;)
ReplyDeleteArdyth, this is BRILLIANT!! You're so clever :)
ReplyDeleteArdyth - you are such a clever puss! Love both of them...
ReplyDeleteOK, your "tree" is brilliant! Wish I had thought of that!
ReplyDeleteThe over-the-edge music stamp is perfect with the sentiment. How clever! The second card is super cute, and I love the shimmer on the ornaments. Thanks for joining us at CAS-ual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteOh Ardyth, that Christmas card is an absolute standout. Definitely pin-worthy and a possible Christmas CASE for me.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fabulous...but that music one is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards! I really love your ornament "tree"!
