CFC103 - Congratulations!

The challenge at CASual Fridays this week is Congratulations. At this time of year, and especially this year, congratulations means graduation. My son is graduating from Grade 8 this year (the day before his birthday - talk about a celebration!) and heading to High School in September.

I masked and sponged the green and yellow (his school colours) before embossing GR8 (I love the play on "Great" and "Grade 8") and the 2013 directly on the sponged panel (both using Kelly Purkey's Plain Jane alphabet). The all-important 'congratulations' is cut out with a Spellbinders label die, edged in Stickles and popped up.

That same son is away on a canoe trip with the Air Cadets this weekend. It has rained off and on ever since they left and since they're supposed to be sleeping in tents (I have no idea if there's any more permanent shelter at the lake they're at), I'm sure he will be coming home very, very soggy!

ETA (June 7) - This card was chosen as a VIP!

  6. Oh, poor wet soggy son! I just hope there is no flooding which is now plaguing the Midwest!

Your congratulations card for him for his very special Grade 8 finish is a pure delight, Ardy, clever, and perfect for a guy. Wow, high school! Just looking at your wedding photo from the January post, I know you are thinking how did THAT happen so fast?!

  12. Wow - awesome masking and sponging! Another stunning color combo with a save-this-forever format! Funky and cool - perfect for an almost Grade 9 young man!

Tenting in wet, rainy weather....not fun! But like DH would say (back in our tenting day) "we're not made of sugar honey so toughen up". Hmmmm, no sugar in his coffee.....
