Oh my. I pulled out all the bird stamps I have, including rubber duckies and penguins and flamingos and peacocks and owls, and not one of them jumped out at me and said "here's a card". I don't actually have a lot of bird stamps - especially compared to flowers and butterflies. And I have never liked the 'bird-day' pun (although I am guilty of enjoying quite a few other puns!). Really, this is a card I never would have made without this challenge - and that's what makes the challenges so much fun!
My first attempt was a little busy and required a ton of masking:
So I tried another:
And I quite like it. I chose this bird because his beak was pointing up - ready to hold onto the balloons. And I do love the bright colours and all the white space.
However, he's looking the wrong way. Up is good, but in my humble opinion, the future is up and to the right. Always. It's just one of my card-making quirks and probably why this guy has never seen ink.
What are your card-making quirks?
Supplies:
Stamps: Whippersnapper Designs (birds on a wire), Hero Arts (past-looking bird), Stampcraft (balloons), ? (Happy Birthday)
Paper: Gina K Pure Luxury
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Copics, Stardust Stickles
Really like them both and love how colorful they are. Want him facing right, next challenge, reverse image bird! Easier than all the masking
ReplyDeleteI love the colourful balloons in both cards. I think the second is my favourite - love the patterned wings too!
ReplyDeleteLoved both of your cars. These birds are so cute. Your coloring is great.

I love the bird party and the single bird too. All those balloons are so bright and pretty. Sometimes looking back to get our bearings doesn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are lovely. well done :)
ReplyDeleteI much prefer the second card..the first one is a little busy for me...and it must have been quite a bit of work! I agree with you on the way the bird on the second card is facing...I love it when my images are facing the right...but even so, that second card is simply awesome!
