The 12 Kits of Occasions - Christmas in July

Good morning! I'm so thrilled that my friend Kim asked me to be the Guest for the Christmas-in-July edition of The 12 Kits of Occasions!

This is a group of 12 crafters who trade 'kits' each month and make several cards using the goodies included. The photo above gives you an idea of all the amazing products that were included in the kit this month and I really felt like Christmas had come in July! I had so much fun creating several cards!

As you can see the kit included quite a bit of patterned paper - this is something I don't use very often, so it was fun to come up with different ways to incoprorate it into my cards.

FS547 - You are Tough

Congratulations to this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper: Joanne (Angelnorth).

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on Joanne's:
-colours
-square shape
-general layout

I changed:
-technique
-butterfly to flower
-proportions of colour

The blue panel, the red rose and the green leaf were all made months ago! I found all these pieces when I was organizing my craft room this week.

At the time, I used Color Burst powders, but I've linked up to similar colours of Brushos. I have tried Brushos at a class and they work the same way and give very similar results.

Have you seen the inspiration from our Guest Muse, Marcie at Muse Card Club this week?

It is so artistic and full of drama and life! And the perfect inspiration for my teen nephew's birthday next month!

I focused on Marcie's:
-predominantly black card
-green and white sentiment
-bright colours in the black

I used:
-Neon cardstock from Michael's

EH Pin-Sights - Party!

So happy with this little birthday card for the current Pin-Sights Challenge at Ellen Hutson.

I was inspired by the fun colours, birthday party theme and all the glorious white space!

Do you see a party hat? Nope. That's a Christmas tree with a flower on top. The border is a 3-berry stamp. Seriously. It's so much fun to look at your supplies and see how to use them in different ways!

I cut the solid 'tree' then ran it through my Big Shot with the Stitches Cover plate. I coloured stripes with Copics. I went through my inks to find colours to match, so that I could stamp the borders - Lawn Fawn Sunshine, Plastic Flamingo and Merman fit the bill. Finally I coloured a scrap of card with one of the copics and cut out the flower from that.

SPD MIU 33 - Celebrate

There are still a few days to play along with this month's SugarPea Designs Mix it Up Challenge!

As usual, I tried to combine the two inspiration pieces, but as usual didn't quite get the sketch exactly right! lol! I tried it with more balloons, but it just felt crowded and not 'me'.

I started by stamping the Striped Background onto a panel and then cut that with the stitched rectangle die from the Birthday Journal Card set (what a useful set of dies - so many good basics and birthday possibilities!) I then inlaid the stitched circle from Beautiful Bauble into that, and then inlaid the Celebrate die into the two of them. A little fussy, but not difficult. When I did all that inlaying,  I didn't put the 'top' of the rectangle die back on, which resulted in this fun shape. I finished the sentiment with a masked partial sentiment from Under the Weather.

I used:
Striped Background
Whatever the Weather
Celebrate
Birthday Journal Card
Beautiful Bauble

I'm also going to link this up to CASology's Balloon Cue Card.
