We are carrying on with Anything Goes this month at Sugar Pea Designs!

I used repeat stamping (and my MISTI to keep everything straight and evenly spaced!) to create a fun, festive thank you card.

I used:

I created a night sky on watercolour cardstock similar to Friday's card, but this time with distress inks, shimmer spray and silver stickles.

Church Christmas Card Project Day 10 - O Holy Night

My final Church Christmas Card for this year was completely cased from Helen G. I've been wanting to make a galaxy sky all year, and practised a bit while we were at the Lake House in October. I made 32 of these. I used distress ink and water for the sky and then embossed the star and Taylored Expressions sentiment in gold.

Muse 197 - Happy New Year!

For this week's Muse Challenge, Jenni gave us a scenic New Year's card:

I focused on Jenni's:
-New Year's theme
-partially embellished die cut
-blue background
-yellow 'spots'
-black sentiment

I die cut the happy and partially covered it with Versamark ink before embossing with Enchanted Gold embossing powder.

I watercoloured the background including some gold spatter before stamping the rest of the sentiment in Versafine Onyx.

I used:
-Winnie & Walter Happy die
-Concord & 9th Happy Words
-Kuretake Gansai Tambi

Church Christmas Card Project Day 9 - Merry

For the past number of years, I have made photo Christmas Cards for a friend. She has decided this is the final year, so we wanted to design something really special.

When she showed me the photo for this year, I loved the black and white and the length of the layout. I suggested that we take advantage of that and make a long card that would fit into a red, No 10 envelope.

We decided on a rich red, sparkly silver and white colour scheme. I made 80 of these - the most labour-intensive part was the tag, but using a MISTI made it go fairly quickly.

I used
-Papertrey Merry die
-MFT stitched tag die
-Concord & 9th Perfectly Penned (which already had a 'from the' as part of another stamp)

SPDMIU27 - It's your Birthday!

Time for the next SugarPea Designs Mix it Up Challenge and again it's Anything Goes!

I think this is one of my all-time favourite SPD images - he is so happy and full of energy and he's just perfect for a masculine birthday card! He's from Every Day is Christmas. I love the idea of having a Christmas set that you can use all year long and for many non-Christmas occasions.

I stamped and coloured him with copics and added a sentiment from Celebrate All the Things. I finished the card by masking and sponging some spotlights to add to the celebratory feel!

AJVD - Rainbow Hearts

Isn't this fun? Pop over to A Jillian Vance Design blog for more details!

CASology 229 - Toast

This week's CASology Cue Card is Toast!

It's almost New Year's, a perfect time for toasting, so I made a Happy New Year card. I used Papertrey's Keep It Simple: New Year and Neat & Tangled's Starburst die. These 'fireworks' add interest but no clutter to my clean white background.

Now it's your turn - I think this one's going to be especially fun! We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Be sure to check out the DT blogs for more inspiration:

Church Christmas Project 2016 Day 8

Are you getting tired of poinsettias from me yet?

I made this one in August for #thedailymarker30day:

But when making 32 of the same design, I need to keep it simple! I turned the panel, and tilted the sentiment to fit. This way there's only one stamping of the Stampin' Up poinsettia. I coloured some in red (deep red), and the rest pink (light carmine with a touch of bright yellow).

I used
-Stampin' Up Poinsettia
-Hero Arts Sentiment
-Zigs Clean Color Real Brush Markers

FS515 - Merry Christmas

This week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper is Paulette (aka parknslide). I had fun choosing my inspiration from her BIG gallery - I finally settled on this project:

I combined many of the elements of Paulette's various tags and focused on:
-colours
-use of tag
-Stickles

I changed:
-made it into a card
-used stamping as well as die cuts

I used:
-WPlus9 Christmas Tag
-Stampin' Up Scentsational Season

MCV75 - Season's Greetings

I just couldn't help having a little joke with you with my Muse: Christmas Visions card, where Chriss gave us this dramatic inspiration:

I had just finished making my card for this week's Muse challenge - click here - when I saw Chriss' inspiration and decided just to remake my first card, but in opposite colours.

This time I watercoloured the Simon Says Stamp poinsettia with my new Tombow Dual Tip Brush Markers and then spritzed the daylights out of it with shimmer spray, so that the colours ran quite a bit. I love the sparkly (in real life) but somewhat distressed look of it.

Church Christmas Project 2016 Day 7 - Reason for the Season

For more information about my annual Church Christmas Card project, click here.

These two cards were both made using a similar technique that I have tried several times this year and that I really enjoy.

I used watercolour cardstock and distress ink, stamped in multiple shades, multiple times to achieve a watercoloured look.

I used:
-Altenew Floral Shadows
-Hero Arts sentiment (Jesus)
-Stampin' Up sentiment (Christ)

Muse 196 - Season's Greetings

This card was inspired by Tracey's beautifully CAS Muse

-large black scripty sentiment

I was also inspired by Nina Marie's popped-up inlaid die technique here.

I used:
-Simon Says Stamp Winter Flowers
-Simon Says Stamp Big Scripty Greetings Holiday
-Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Church Christmas Card Project Day 6 - King of Kings

For more information about my annual Church Christmas Card project, click here.

My card for Day 6 of my Church Christmas Project is simple and rustic. The star and manger are from an old retired Market Street Stamps set called Reason for the Season. The sentiment is an old one I have in my stash - not sure who made it.

AJVD - Sparkly Snow!

Want a simple technique with a big, sparkly 'wow' factor? Head over to A Jillian Vance Design Blog for more details!

CASology 228 - Ahoy!

This week's CASology Cue Card is Bow.

I made a masculine, one-layer card with one image and one sentiment. No embellishments and just a bit of sponging for the ocean. I used Essentials By Ellen "Stay Salty".

Now it's your turn - there are a few 'bows' that you can use for inspiration - be sure to check out the rest of the DT!

Church Christmas Card Project Day 5

For more information about my annual Church Christmas Card project, click here.

For today's Church Christmas card, I really wanted the focus to be on the night sky. I used watercolour paper and Distress Inks before cutting the Taylored Expressions die from the 'sky' paper and inlaying it into a white die-cut. I finished the card with an old Hero Arts sentiment.

I used:
-Reverse Confetti Christmas Blessings
-Neat and Tangled Winter Wishes

Friday 9 December 2016

Church Christmas Project 2016 Day 4

This one was not a church card project, but it was so much fun to make! I used Color Burst powders over a gold-embossed image. The leaves were done separately and then everything was cut with matching dies. And of course, everything got a spritz of Shimmer Spray! I just love the variation in the colours on the poinsettia petals!

I used:
-Essentials by Ellen Mondo Poinsettia
-Essentials by Ellen Christmas Scribbles
-Color Burst Powders
-Shimmer Spray

Thursday 8 December 2016

Muse 195 - Thanks

I used:
-Mama Elephant Thanks Script die

SPDMIU26 - For You!

This poor little elf has something just for you and it looks heavy! This card is for this week's SugarPea Designs Mix It Up challenge, where anything goes!

I used Merry Makers and Wanderlust, as well as the rectangle die from Birthday Journal Card. I coloured some polka dots onto the present by using a black thin-tipped marker. I matted my focal image on some stripes from the Happy Holidays Patterned Paper Collection. I added some little stars in the corner.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

AJVD Poinsettias

Today, I'm teaching a class at my neighbour's Seniors' Christmas party (see below for the class card). I couldn't bear to throw out the off-cuts and made this week's main card from the scrap. Head over to A Jillian Vance Design for more details!

CASology 227 - Space

This week's CASology Cue Card is Space!

A perfect opportunity to remind ourselves that above all else (in my humble opinion, anyway), white space is the main element of CAS design. Also, my little red ornament is hanging in space.

I used Uniko Studio's Rustic Christmas and All Occasions Sentiments #4. I used two colours of red ink and a white gel pen to create some dimension on the ornament.

Now it's your turn! Be sure to check out the DT blogs for more inspiration!

Church Christmas Project 2016 Day 3 - Follow His Star

For more information about my annual Church Christmas Card project, click here.

Another recognizable card for this year's Church Christmas Card project. I made this one:

-Ken Oliver Colorburst Powders (Lemon Yellow, Alazarin Crimson)

MCV73 - Merry Christmas

For this week's Muse: ChristmasVisions challenge, I did something I don't normally do. In fact I normally try NOT to do this - I pretty much copied Robyn's inspiration!

The whole point of MCV is to be inspired by the card and make something your own. But I love everything about Robyn's card - the colours and shimmer, and it's been a while since I played with my ColorBurst powders. So here we are.

I focused on Robyn's:
-colours
-technique (colorburst background)
-stamping over the background

I used:
-Stamplorations Merry Christmas die
-Stampin' Up Baroque Motifs stamp
