This week's CASology Cue Card is Stencil!
I have a few stencils, but I've never really gotten the hang of them. This week's Cue Card was a great opportunity to practice and develop my skills in this area! Many of them are large and designed to create all-over backgrounds but you can adapt this tool in a few ways to ensure a CAS result! I chose to mask and isolate one of the leaves so that I would have lots of white space.
I used Stamplorations Leaf Prints Stencil and Hashtag Authentic stamps. I sponged the leaf in Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers. Too add a bit more colour and some balance, I sponged a panel with the same colours, but it only peeks out on the opposite corner.
Now it's your turn! Maybe you're a stencil pro, maybe you're a newbie like me - whichever, we can't wait to see your CAS Stencil creations! Be sure to check out the DT blogs for more inspiration:

I'm definitely a bit of a stencil newbie too! This, however, looks very professional!! Love that tilted panel and the fresh colour scheme!
ReplyDeleteLusciously gorgeous ombre stenciling going on here! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors, great design!
ReplyDeleteArdyth your ombre leaf is amazing, I definitely need to works on my stencil skills too!
ReplyDeleteLove how you used part of the stencil--your leave has such wonderful coloring.
ReplyDelete...so I'm thinking that you really, really need to send this card to yourself cuz this card is AWESOME! Love the wee peak of the sponged panel. Really cool sentiment too :)
ReplyDelete!
Terrific ombre leaf, this is pretty Ardyth!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to sponge the background panel to match the stencilled leaf! I tend to use my stencils on *busier* cards, so I hope I'll have time to give a cleaner card a try this week!
ReplyDeleteStenciling sensational, Ardyth! I used that stencil for my upcoming DT card for Inkspirational...apparently, I must have channeled you (but your card is a zillion times more impressive!)...

Gorgeous ombre effect on your stenciling and background panel, Ardyth! Loving the grunge style on your sentiment, too...Stunning card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner Ardyth - love the coloured panel peeking out from the opposite edge of the feature panel.

Oh those zesty colours are mouthwatering, Ardyth ... the tilted panel balances that beautifully stencilled leaf brilliantly ... gorgeous! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI love the double panel and the inking you did is stunning.
ReplyDeleteYour card says it already - AWESOME!!! Love the inked up panel peeking out and choosing brown as sentiment color is interesting - black would have been much harsher.
ReplyDeleteLove how you have the gorgeous green and yellow on opposite ends of your card, especially the little bit peeking. Awesome as always Ardyth!
ReplyDeleteDon't think you need too much practice with stencils...this looks pretty darn fantastic to me! That leaf is gorgeous, and the colors you've chosen are bright, happy, and well, perfect! Another wonderful card. Congrats to Struan too. Poor mommy, lol! You'll find you'll love that he can drive...eventually... Miss you. Bev
ReplyDeleteLOVE this clean and modern design, Ardtyh! The colors really pop!!!
ReplyDeleteHmm... LOVE the contrast of the grungy sentiment against the wonderful smooth ombre!
ReplyDeletePerfect!
