Superstar

Well I suppose it was inevitable that I would make a card inspired by David Bowie's final album Blackstar:

It's a funny thing, isn't it, to 'lose' someone who isn't really yours to lose. I have been a die-hard Bowie fan since my early teens (that was a long time ago!) and was very sad to hear that he had died over the weekend. On Monday, I was happy to get the album in my hands but sad to think that it's the last time I'll get a new Bowie album.

I chose to make a happy card based on his 'parting-gift' album cover and used Simon's Lots of Stars and an old Michael's sentiment.

To quote Col. Chris Hadfield: "Ashes to ashes, dust to Stardust."

  1. Beautiful card, Ardyth! Love the rainbow & sentiment - perfect additions to honour David Bowie. He was a class act from beginning to end.

  6. Perfect tribute to Mr. Bowie. Everyone everywhere knows his music in one way or another, and can sing along. What a voice... I'm sure he'd have approved of your take on his album cover. Delightful. His work will always be with us. Bev

  8. I admit that, aside from the movie Labyrinth and the fact that he and Iman had a house here for a while, I don't know much about David Bowie. I've been enjoying hearing so much of his music these last couple of days though and starting to get to know him.

    Love your card.

  10. Terrific card, Ardyth. I think Bowie was an "everybody knows his name" kind of entertainer. He was ever-evolving and kept it interesting all through the decades. He worked hard but got some lucky breaks early on. I think they were in his path as he was meant to bring so much to so many during his superstar career. Surely his music will live on. :) The Hadfield quote is magical.

  14. I love this take on the album cover; it is a fabulous card. Of course I thought of you when I heard the news. My husband and I have been enjoying some early Bowie over the last few days. I caught the choir singing Bowie songs at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Periscope

  15. Great card and a wonderful tribute! So happy to find another Bowie fan among us cardmakers. Absolutely can't understand why I didn't realize this earlier. Was a superfan myself when I was younger.
