Church Christmas Project - Day 8 (Joy to the World)

Click here for more information about my Church Christmas Card project and a link to my Pinterest board for more cards I made in past years.

Today's card is a case of this card by Mariana. To better suit the needs of my project, I used fewer die cuts and layers and changed to portrait rather than landscape orientation.

Because I'm mass-producing these cards, the designs tend to be simple with few layers and little embellishment. This cream panel was beautiful on its own with the variation in the green ink (Hero Arts Ombre ink), but by adding a double-pierced frame, it has a more 'finished' look. I created the frame by using Avery Elle double-pierced rectangle and an MFT pierced rectangle taped together like this:

I cut the panels after I had stamped everything, so that all the stamping matched up after I laid the inside rectangle back into the frame.

I used two Hero Arts stamp sets to make this - DC169 and CL795. I was so glad I used my MISTI (such a lifesaver for mass-producing cards!) because I did find that on this cardstock, the green ombre ink needed to be stamped twice - in the end it settled in beautifully.

  1. Love the effect of the ombre ink on this card Ardyth, and the die cuts really do give an air of sophistication to the elegant design.

  9. Gorgeous card. I love the great big holly leaves, and they look so good with the ombré ink. And as you said, the pierced die cut panels add so much class with no extra bulk.

  10. A beautiful card on its own, but with the panel it becomes a super card! You must have made so many christmascards already... Enjoy the weekend!

  11. Taking a lesson from this. Sometimes I think my CAS cards are too simple but a little stitched panel takes it up a notch and finishes it off like you said.
