Masked Roses

Yes, you're in the right place. I just thought I'd try something new. And messy! I recently bought some distress stain sprays (Lawn, Ocean, Raspberry and Mustard as well as Pewter) and thought I'd give them a try.

I used some of the Essentials By Ellen Bold Blooms die cuts as masks and then sprayed away in Lawn and Raspberry and Pewter (hard to show the shimmer in the photo), on Ranger watercolour paper. It definitely gives an interesting effect (and I have some very pretty die cuts now, to use on a future card!)

As for the mess, yes, it was. Despite spraying into an old shoe box, pretty much everything on my desk had a fine mist of pewter on it when I was finished. I tried again with a bigger box and had more success - as they say, practice makes perfect!

  1. It's always so much fun making the most mess don't you think? Well that's until you have to clear up!
Love your card. Glam, dramatic and so striking. X

  2. Those sprays are very messy, I recently tried one but took it outside. I now have a nice green spritz on my garden table! I love the card you made, a great effect.

Did you go to Scrapfest on Sat.? I thought of you. I didn't see Virginia there and we left early.
I was a bit disappointed as there didn't seem to be as many vendors this time..oh well I still managed to buy a few things.

  11. Ooops...sorry I thought I was visiting Ardyth's blog...just kidding - this card is soooooooo cool!

You do 'messy' really, REALLY well! I love the soft, unstructured look of how the mist/spray ink settles on the paper.

Can hardly wait to see more 'sprayed' projects :)
