Hope You Can Cling To

This is my second post today - for my CASology post, please scroll down.

October is Hope You Can Cling To month at Splitcoaststampers. Every day, all month long, there are challenges with a common theme - hope.

The idea is that cardmakers play along with all the challenges and have a chance to win great prizes. And then all the cards that are made for the challenges get sent to a Cancer Centre in Texas for use by patients and their families.

"Splitcoaststampers is proud to partner with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for our third annual month-long card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer.

Whether your stamps cling to acrylic, wood, or to your hard drive, they hold the power to convey hope and lift the spirits of anyone who sees what you create with them. That is the inspiration for our “Hope You Can Cling To” stamping campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We encourage papercrafters across the globe to put their talents to work creating beautiful handmade cards to send to patients and their families at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, and, in the process, turn our gallery pink!

Hope is powerful medicine."

I will be hosting a challenge on October 11, but today I made a sample for Beate's challenge, which is to make a one layer ('lump-free') card. (see where we're going with this?)

I was reminded recently that men get breast cancer too, and I thought that I would make something that could be sent to a man.

I simply sponged a sun in warm colours and added this Paper Smooches sentiment. I used this week's Less Is More sketch and will link this card up there.

Come on over and learn more about Hope You Can Cling To!

  13. First of all, thank you for the info about the card drive. I will definitely be heading over there shortly to check it out. Also, thanks for the reminder that men are also affected by breast cancer.

Beautiful sponging - the colors are stunning! Your adeptness at this sport of sponging amazes me...especially the 'highlight' area, which I had to look closely at to see if it was a natural glare created by the light or an "Ardyth-made" glare. I wasn't surprised at all to discover that it was the latter of the two!
