Happy Mistakes

Sometimes, rarely, things that could be disastrous (relatively speaking - I mean this is card making we're talking about here!) work out for me.  Case in point: I saw this card by Cara Denise in the Splitcoaststamper gallery.

I absolutely loved the layout and the subtlety of the medallion.  I saw so much potential for how to use this stamp that I had bought but never used - it's big and a little fussy and intimidating. I thought it would be fun to use my trusty 'Flannel' kaleidoscope ink pad and make it a little funky. But alas, it was just muddy. I cleaned the stamp and rethought. Another go-to option for me is my iridescent embossing powder, so I inked up the stamp with versamark and stamped it on my paper. Of course, the stamp was not perfectly clean and so there were some ghostly colours from the kaleidoscope pad. But they were so pretty! And it got even prettier with the embossing powder - delicate and pink and sparkly- so I made it into a baby girl card:

Now I just need to find someone who's going to have a baby girl.....

Supplies:
Stamps: Stampin' Up! (Medallion), Papertrey Ink (Mega mixed messages)
Paper: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink
Ink: improperly cleaned Kaleidescope Flannel, versamark
Accessories: Iridescent Embossing Power (Old Island Stamp Compnay), Star dust Stickles, Nestabilities (Banner, circle and scalloped circle)
